ARROW's Midseason Premiere Reveals Felicity's Fate

ARROW's Midseason Premiere Reveals Felicity's Fate

All throughout the midseason hiatus of Arrow, fans were alarmed to see set photos emerge of Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) in a wheelchair. Is she truly paralyzed? Is Felicity the character in the grave? We finally received answers during last night's episode.

Many fans were wondering if Arrow was positioning Felicity to become an Elsewords type version of Oracle, the second alter ego Barbara Gordon assumed after becoming paralyzed from the waist down after an attack by the Joker.  Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim confronted the set photo leak head on by casually revealing on twitter that the episode would feature a hallucination scene.  However, by the end of the episode, it was confirmed that Felicity is in danger of never walking again.  Yet, there was one more revelation.  In the closing minutes, the show jumped to the future again and showed Oliver Queen beside an undisclosed grave.  We still don't know who it belongs to but Oliver Queen was shown to leave the grave, enter a limousine and sit down beside....Felicity. So there 's now indisputable proof that Felicity is not the Arrow character that dies this season.  Could it be Diggle in the grave? Thea? Roy? Det. Lance? The Arrow showrunners promised that all will be revealed in due time.

In regards to Felicity, showrunner Wendy Mericle reaffirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Felicity was never going to become Oracle.  "
To echo my co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim, Oracle is still off the table. It was really never our intention to go that direction. We wanted to throw Felicity some big curve balls this season. And this seemed like an interesting way to go. We want to explore what her place is going to be on the team and her relationship with Oliver. It was less about trying to honor Oracle, which is obviously a great comic book character, and more about trying to playing the reality of this situation for her."

Does Oracle being off the table imply that there are other plans for the character in the DCEU? There's still a ton of  mystery regarding Jena Malone's character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  One popular theory is that she's playing Barbara Gordon but could it be the Oracle version of the character, not Batgirl?

Arrow returns with another new episode next Wednesday at 8/7c on The CW.

So there is another DC comics character (named Proxy) who is confined to a wheelchair. And her father is the Calculator.
The Calculator is going to show up on Arrow in the next few weeks (the episode when Roy returns). And rumor has it that The Calculator is Felicity's father. So maybe they are modelling her story more after Proxy than Oracle. That's what I think.
Also, we are all trying to figure out who is in the grave, but what about figuring out who Oliver and Felicity are talking about when they say they have to kill "him". Who is "him"? We are all assuming it is Damien Darkh, but I think that is the bigger red herring here, is that they are not referring to Darkh. I think they are referring to someone else. I think they are referring to the Calculator.

Also, does anyone have any theories on who Ruve Adams (Darkh's wife) is? Anyone? I have no clue who she is supposed to be. Is she somehow linked to Raven? Is Raven their daughter?

Also, does anyone have any clues about DC comics references to Stonehaven? Trying to figure that one out.

@Nomis
Yes that is correct, he did say another Wilson family member was going to be on the show. The comment flew under the radar. But I bet that is it. I wonder if Slade is coming back? I wonder if the "him" they are referring to is Slade. I think we are all supposed to assume it is Darkh, which is exactly how these guys write. It's a red herring. The "him" that they have to kill is not Darkh.

Thinking its her Mom too. Capt. Lance is now known to have helped the Arrow so it fits the retaliation.

Interesting...I can see that happening, don't know much about the characters but it seems plausible...also, came across this article when I was searching for Proxy and look at the content...coincidence.....????

I believe Laurel will bite the big one. The reason I come to her is because if the producers kill off Diggle they'll be called racist. It can't be Thea because, they showed that she'll end up in the hospital and I doubt the producers of Arrow would really show who'll die in a trailer. I don't think Det. Lance will die, because you need Green Arrow having communication with someone at the police department. Plus they already talked about Darhk would be coming after him and kill him, so I think that is a red herring. The only other person than Laurel is Felicity's mom. But if it was I believe she would have went to the grave site too. On another topic, did anyone else see in the future Felicity doesn't have her ring anymore?

@nomis Yeah, that I figured, but pretty funny that the casting call for Barry's love interest was for a "Wendy"... just thought it was kind of funny...especially when they go on linking it to Proxy...probably reading too much into it...just think it's funny...

Why would Barry show up to Momma Smoak's funeral...or Diggle's brothers funeral ? I think it's Diggle.

I think it is going to be Diggle's brother. Think about it. No real big impact and he was an agent of H.I.V.E. that was compromised. Dig is rumored to be going to flash, this could be the catalyst for the jumping off point without impacted an established character, or the same with Roy he could be coming back just to be killed off.

Little disappointed this season has been about as bad as season 3. It seems like they're losing fans of the show.

At some point the felicity stuff was going to be a problem, and they still seem to think green arrow is batman.

Yeap, all signs point to Diggle. Like i said before knew it wasn't Felicity. Her dad is coming to the show as the calculator and will force her out of her funk to stop him.

How many bodies can you fit under a single gravestone. It's too hard to pick just one of these characters I want to see die.

They cured death in the Arrowverse, does it matter if she dies or not?

LOL. I can imagine Malcolm's reaction to them bringing Felicity.

"No...NO! You can't just bring anyone over here you like that dies. Find another piece of ass!"

It's Diggle's tombstone.
But he's not in the coffin.
I predict Darkh blows up the Arrowcave with Diggle and his brother inside.
Next season we'll find out that HIVE saved his almost-corpse and brought him back as a cyborg manhunter ghost.
It wraps up Diggle's story all the way. He gets to bottom of how his brother became a Ghost, how HIVE finds their manhunters, and finally explain why the producers codenamed him Spartan.

That ep was better than I expected. Amell showed a little more emotion than we usually get. I really almost gave up on the show and passed on it this week. Felicity should've died, or at least stayed hospitalized in a coma for a half season. She's become too much of a focal point in a show about superheroes. I have no idea who's grave that is because these shows always hint at one thing and make it completely different for no other reason than to keep us guessing. They are both reacting strongly to what appears to be a personal loss to both, which makes me think Diggle. Diggle is best friends to both, but he's switching shows or something right? If it was Thea, or one of the Lances, I would expect more of a compassionate and supportive response from one to the other. And would they show us a future gravesight in such dramatic fashion if it wasn't a major character? But with Arrow, it could be the friggin campaign manager they are grieving over...

It's probably Diggle.
