BATWOMAN: Javicia Leslie Suits-Up As Gotham's Scarlet Knight In First Season 2 Trailer

Following a couple of mini-teasers, The CW has finally given us a proper look at the upcoming second season of Batwoman, as Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) steps-up to take the place of the missing Kate Kane.

Following last month's first official look at Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder in her redesigned Bat-suit, The CW has (finally) released a full teaser for the second season of Batwoman in the form of a 60-second promo.

The trailer is not exactly hype-inducing, but it does give us a look at Wilder suiting-up as Gotham's new Scarlet Knight and taking out some street thugs. The footage also confirms that at least part of the season will focus on the search for Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), while hinting that Ryan may find herself at odds with Luke Fox, who reminds the headstrong vigilante that "Batwoman does not kill."

Wilder's initial costume actually belongs to her predecessor, but Leslie's character is expected to don her own version in episode 3 of the upcoming season, and we get a brief glimpse of her updated duds right at the end of the clip.

Leslie's casting was initially met with somewhat of a mixed response, mainly because a lot of fans are still disappointed that Kate Kane hasn't been recast and she'll be playing a non-canon (well, as far as we know) character. We'll see if this new Batwoman can win fans over when the show returns on January 17.

Batwoman season 2 will also see the return of Rachel Skarsten (Elizabeth Kane/Alice), Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox), Nicole Kang (Mary Hamilton), Meagan Tandy (Sophie Moore), Christina Wolfe (Julia Pennyworth), and Dougray Scott (Jacob Kane). Shivaani Ghai was recently added to the cast as Safiyah Sohail.

They might as well just go full out Mystery of the Batwoman with this and make the multiple mantles of Batwoman a recurring theme.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I would have liked that more to what we are getting. This would have even made it harder for the general public to find out who Batwoman is too.

Good teaser. And surprised that they are using a pic of Kate from Ruby Rose to highlight the fact she seems seriously MIA and how it has wrecked everyone: Luke, Mary, Jacob and Sophie.

Curious to see if by the time we find out her wherebouts she could have a new face too considering all of the Skin Pirate thing from S1.

And I think that shot of Sophie with a sword around her neck could be a scene with Safiyah.

How long until she becomes an official character in the comics?

I think bringing in new Batwomen to the comics side could be interesting.

Well time will tell if this season is an improvement or more of the same. Hope for the best, but expect the worst.

No thanks. There is no reason for this show to exist anymore, and definitely no reason for Alice to still be there. They really fcked up by not recasting Kate. Dead show walking.

Somehow, we STILL ended up with Alice in this season.

We hate to see it.

Looks decent, but that voice over at the end telling us when and where to watch was hilarious.

It honestly doesn't look that bad.

I am sticking to the fan theory Ryan is actually Helena Wayne, connecting her to Bruce as his (and Selina's) daughter. Which also makes her connected to Alice since the Kanes and Waynes are relatives.
