GOTHAM: Here's How The Joker's Origin Story Played Out During Last Night's Episode
Last night's episode of Gotham finally revealed how Jeremiah is transformed into the city's Clown Prince of Crime, and you can find out how exactly things played out after the jump. SPOILERS follow...
The Joker's journey to becoming Batman's greatest villain has been somewhat convoluted in Gotham but, last night, his origin story finally came to a close. As expected, Jeremiah Valeska is indeed the Clown Prince of Crime, and things played out in a way bound to be familiar to comic book fans.
As you may recall, Jeremiah was transformed into a maniac by his brother Jerome but he still wasn't fully The Joker. However, during a battle with Bruce Wayne in the Ace Chemicals building, Jeremiah tripped and fell into a vat of green chemicals.
Rather than emerging with pale skin and a twisted smile (which he already has), the villain was left comatose and covered in chemical burns, confirming that those leaked photos are the real deal .The next time we'll see him is presumably in the finale, which will take place a decade after the current setting of the FOX series.
For a very long time now, it's been clear that Gotham takes place in its own world and isn't shy about taking liberties with the source material. That's definitely the case with The Joker and it will be interesting to find out how this origin story compares to the one we'll see in Todd Phillips' Joker this October.
