GOTHAM: Here's How The Joker's Origin Story Played Out During Last Night's Episode

The Joker's journey to becoming Batman's greatest villain has been somewhat convoluted in Gotham but, last night, his origin story finally came to a close. As expected, Jeremiah Valeska is indeed the Clown Prince of Crime, and things played out in a way bound to be familiar to comic book fans.

As you may recall, Jeremiah was transformed into a maniac by his brother Jerome but he still wasn't fully The Joker. However, during a battle with Bruce Wayne in the Ace Chemicals building, Jeremiah tripped and fell into a vat of green chemicals.

Rather than emerging with pale skin and a twisted smile (which he already has), the villain was left comatose and covered in chemical burns, confirming that those leaked photos are the real deal .The next time we'll see him is presumably in the finale, which will take place a decade after the current setting of the FOX series.

For a very long time now, it's been clear that Gotham takes place in its own world and isn't shy about taking liberties with the source material. That's definitely the case with The Joker and it will be interesting to find out how this origin story compares to the one we'll see in Todd Phillips' Joker this October.

I left the show after season 2.

But ask me this, if Bruce Wayne is going around with all the villains, fighting Joker, Ra's, Bane, etc

Aren't they going to know that Bruce Wayne is Batman when Bruce creates him?

@BorjaHetfield - Bruce has only fought Joker and Ra’s and they both know who Batman is most of the time anyway.

Joker has to be in the whole final episode and he has to face Batman.

@Repian - The moment that Joker sees Batman and "love" arises, that must be the climax moment of the Show.

Gotham's take on The Joker has been... complicated, to say the least. But Monaghan's performance since S1 has been nothing short of incredible. Hamill and Ledger are tied for the best Joker portrayal's ever, but he sits right under them at number 2 for me.

Another pretty good episode from a very strong final season last night. Obvious highlight is Jeremiah, who is such a goddamn treat to see on screen. Loved every second of him. He's just so fun, and you can tell Cameron Monaghan has such a great time playing Jeremiah. Kudos to him for delivering such a fantastic Joker, can't wait to see him do it a third time with the "final" version of the Joker.

Just finished the episode. Solid stuff the Jermiah/Bruce scenes were great. Also with all the headaches I get from watching the show sometimes that Cameron guy, who shares my first name, kills it everytime. If Phoenix cant pull it off later this year (I think he will) this kids got my vote.
