STARGIRL Season 2 Reveals Plans For Arrowverse Crossover With John Wesley Shipp Returning As The Flash

With DC Universe no more, Stargirl season two is moving to The CW, and the first major Arrowverse crossover has been set, with John Wesley Shipp set to play the Earth-2 version of Jay Garrick (again).

Entertainment Weekly reveals that Stargirl's upcoming second season will see John Wesley Shipp reprise his role as Jay Garrick, a.k.a. the Flash. The actor is best known for playing the Fastest Man Alive in The CW's The Flash (and the '90s show), and this marks Stargirl's first major Arrowverse CWVerse crossover.

Shipp will reprise his role in episode nine, "a pivotal flashback episode" which establishes "the Golden Age Flash as a member of Earth-2's Justice Society of America."

A lot changed thanks to the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, but confirmation that this is an official crossover comes from The CW. A description shared with the site states that the episode will "officially bring Stargirl [Brec Bassinger] into CW's post-Crisis CWverse alongside The Flash, Superman & Lois, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Supergirl, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow."

This is definitely a fitting piece of casting news, and while The CW could have used a different actor as Jay Garrick, it just makes sense to have him appear in Stargirl given the Justice Society of America's importance to the show. It should be interesting to see if we get any nods to Earth-Prime, the home of the characters mentioned above (Stargirl, meanwhile, lives on the new Earth-2).

Are you excited to see Shipp once again race into action as the Scarlet Speedster?
