Calista Flockhart Will Return As Cat Grant For SUPERGIRL Season 2 In A Reduced Capacity

With Supergirl's moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver, fans have been wondering what that would mean for Calista Flockhart's involvement. Well, Cat Grant will return, but don't expect to see much of her...

One of the biggest unknowns about season two of Supergirl on The CW has been whether or not Calista Flockhart will return as Cat Grant. After all, production has moved from LA to Vancouver and the budget has been slashed, so her future with the series has very much been left up in the air, especially as we recently learned that Kara Danvers will have a new boss when the show returns.

Deadline however has now confirmed that Flockhart will be back, albeit in what they call a "reduced capacity." Instead of a being a series regular, the actress will be a recurring guest star in season two.

That obviously means we'll see a lot less of Cat, a shame considering how great many of her scenes with Kara and Supergirl were. Flockhart lives in LA and didn't want to have to uproot her family by moving to Vancouver, but the trade reveals that a compromise has now been reached and that, "Flockhart would do as many scenes as she could possibly do, likely banking material for multiple episodes in one trip north. I hear she would be paid per her original series regular contract."

It will be good to see Cat still around every now and again anyway, something emphasised by Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. "Supergirl wouldn’t be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen." Are you guys glad that Flockhart is returning?

I need her agent who can get me same pay for less work. She the reason the budget were so high the first season. Her agent is killing these networks.

I liked her role in season 1, but I think exploring new territories is a good idea. The less tv show repeat the same plots, scenes, the better

Yeah Harrison Ford's grumpy enough, you can't be taking away his thrust cushion.

Flockhart was excellent in Season One. Glad she will still be making cameo appearances, but good to try new stuff.

yes!!! her dynamics with Supergirl and also with Kara, is what brings the show some human touch... some of them scenes were very touching... Calista should be in as much as she can please....

On the one hand, she was clearly way way way overpaid. On the other hand, her relationship with Kara was one of the very few bright spots in the series, in particular when she figured out Supergirl's identity before they backtracked it. One of the sparse genuinely good scenes in 20 hours of television.

@AquaCrow - That bobble head promo pic was shit but I feel much better now. TMZ has a picture of him as Clark Kent and honestly he's almost as good as Reeve's CK.
