Next week's episode of Supergirl will be the first half of a Back to the Future-inspired two-parter that will see Brainiac 5 (Jesse Rath) and Dreamer (Nicole Maines) take a trip to the past to pay a visit to a young Kara (Izabela Vidovic) and Alex (Olivia Nikkanen) in a last-ditch effort to get the Girl of Steel (Melissa Benoist) out of the Phantom Zone.

However, they're going to run into an unexpected complication when a young Cat Grant (Eliza Helm) arrives in Midvale at the same time, seeking to break a major story in the small town that could really help kickstart her career.

The first of the two episodes will be directed by Arrowverse veteran Alexandra La Roche, while the May 4 installment will be directed by series regular Chyler Leigh, making her directorial debut.

"Prom Night!" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG) (HDTV)

THE FLASHBACK TO MIDVALE INTRODUCES A YOUNG CAT GRANT - Nia (Nicole Maines) and Brainy (Jesse Rath) attempt to save Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) from the Phantom Zone by time traveling back to Kara's home in 2009. While determined to secure the item needed to help Supergirl, Brainy is worried about keeping a low profile so as not to alter the future timeline. However, when their ship crashes upon arrival, a young Kara Danvers (guest star Izabela Vidovic) is the first on the scene. Meanwhile, a young reporter named Cat Grant (guest star Eliza Helm) sets her sights on Midvale as she suspects there is a big story in the small town. Alexandra LaRoche directed the episode written by Rob Wright & Jess Kardos (#605). Original airdate 4/27/2021.

Man [frick] the CW for oversaturating the market with absolute trash. Arrow and The Flash were good for a while, and Superman and Lois is dope. But beyond that... absolute trash that makes DC look bad

I just never could get into this one. How are the timelines for this and Superman & Lois. Is this one 15 years years before Superman & Lois now?

Yeah, this was the weakest episode of the season. Unsurprisingly, this was also the first one that did not have Lex in it. I found there to be weak writing and poor decision making across many of the characters, particularly Alex and Kara [especially Alex]. I did enjoy Brainy in the episode though.

This episode was closest to Flash s7 in terms of quality this season. So far, I'd rank the DC shows this way:
1) Superman & Lois s1
2) Black Lightning s4
3) Supergirl s6
4) Flash s7

I still really enjoy the Supergirl series and it was great seeing Alex, brainy and Lena work together. I always enjoy flashback eps and it looks like a fun ep for next week and ep6 which Chyler Leigh directed as well.
