Episode was way too preachy, which is saying something since being preachy is it's modus operandi. And the whole "The people taking the power back from the politicians" couldn't have been more hamfisted if it were served with asparagus and roasted squash.

OT:

Not been a good day.

@Reeds2Much - Honestly? Even the BatMAN who laughs was a stupid idea.

@FlixMentallo21 - Maybe if DC would let the character breath for two seconds and rotate it in and out instead of make it a part of every storyline for three years straight it wouldn't be so bad.

But noooooooo.

What is going on this season, seems like when Kara was gone the plot moved to a crawl, and now that she is back its like they are doing nothing but the hot topic issue episodes, which none of the shows except Black Lightning were good at. (Luckily Superman and Lois has avoided them)

Y'know...maybe if every single change that was being called for in episodes like this were ACTUALLY implemented, THEN people would stop complaining about 'preachy' episodes.

Just my two cents.

@FlixMentallo21 - these issues can be handled a lot less cartoony.

Black Lightning and Luke Cage handled them very well

With a majority of these shows when they try to bring in gun control or racial problems and other thing like that it usually just comes out or nowhere and is forgotten about just as quickly as it was introduced. Worked very well in season 4 of Supergirl, they built the whole storyline around it and developed it well and explored both sides of the issue. Cage and Lightning were all about that and also developed the conflicts very well

Here the racist is introduced and defeated and is a cartoon character

Really enjoyed seeing Kelly becoming guardian and seeing Digg again with everyone. Looks like the power of the totem goes to everyone’s head and Kara tries to stop it.

Why did they ditch the muscle padding she used to have on her arms and shoulders? It looked great.

Yeah... this was a weaker episode for sure. And as others have noted, this episode got a bit way too preachy, even for the show's standards. I think this greatly detracted from the episode, partially because it just didn't stop. The vilification of Kara seemed a bit of a strange approach too. There are important arguments and topics covered in this episode, but they could have been handled better.

That being said, I enjoyed seeing Diggle again, and his interactions with the team. Hopefully the tease of "worlds await" by him means something for the future. Also enjoyed Brainy in this episode (he is usually one of the stronger points of episodes). I don't really care for Kelly too much, but I found that her Guardian 2.0 suit looks like something that would have fit well on Black Lightning; also, that Black Lightning quote was a nice addition.
