A brand new episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs tonight, but before that two of the show's stars, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker, spoke CBR News to discuss the growing conflict within Coulsons team, the future of Fitz and Simmons' relationship (FitzSimmons), and more.

"It's not so black-and-white right now," Elizabeth described the growing fractures within Coulson's S.H.I.E.L.D. Iain De Caestecker then chimed in to say that this season will be bringing the team a lot of turmoil, and that "going into the season finale, the group's a bit more split. Everyone's going through different turmoils."

The two Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars  were then asked by CBR about the future of "FitzSimmons":  "They've become a lot stronger as individuals, I think. But I think they still care for and need each other a lot, and they also work better together when they are together," De Caestecker answered, "But I think there's a lot of things that have still been unsaid and will hopefully come out, certain confrontations that are still bubbling under." Elizabeth Henstridge then chimed in on the "FitzSimmons" talk to say that their relationship is "to get muddier before it gets clear."

Talks then turned to Simmon's new found hostility towards the emergence of Inhumans : "It makes sense if there are these people -- call them what you want; Inhumans -- that cause destruction, and you can get rid of them, then they won't be a destruction anymore. That's where she started in Season One from the beginning, being very mathematical."

Finally when asked how Fitz will handle his brain trauma in the coming episodes, Ian De Castecker revealed that the "writers had the idea," and did the research before they let him in on the idea. The actor then adds that the trauma is "just something that should never be trivialized. It's a real and serious thing to a lot of people, brain trauma, so we just have to constantly be respectful towards it." He continues on saying that the trauma is ultimately about "the realization that you never get fully better, it's about embracing the new side of you and making that work in the world that you're in." De Caestecker then talked about the possibility of Fitz receiving a cure for his injury. "I suppose the idea of a cure -- I don't know if that could happen. I'm not too sure about that. It's still a work in progress for him."

Fitz and Ward are the best! They're also the characters I liked the least during the beginning of S1.
