Following the release of the synopsis for the January 14 episode of Agents Of SHIELD ("Seeds"), I was immediately aware of how likely it is Marvel Studios is setting up the Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnations of The Thunderbolts. Now, this is purely speculation on my part but hear me out. Spoiler alert for those who haven't been watching Agents Of SHIELD.
The upcoming episode "Seeds" is set to center on the return of the antagonist Ian Quinn from "Assets," as well as the debut of the Iron Man villain Blizzard into the MCU. "Assets" involved Quinn kidnapping SHIELD asset Frank Hall due to his anti-gravity invention. During Hall's so-called rescue, it is revealed Hall wanted to be caught. The SHIELD mission goes wrong and Hall is transformed into the supervillain Graviton. In the comics, both Blizzard and Graviton were connected to the Thunderbolts and James Gunn, director of Guardians Of The Galaxy, has already expressed interest in doing a Thunderbolts movie. I honestly think that IF Marvel does a supervillain team-up film, it should be called Dark Avengers because it would make more money with the name AVENGERS in it and it would be easier for non-comic readers to grasp the concept that its villains being heroes since The Avengers have already gotten their film but what do you think? Could Marvel be setting up Dark Avengers or Thunderbolts? Could Ian Quinn be involved? Let me know what you think below.
