We've already broken down the biggest moments in today's episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (check that out here), while we're sure you'll agree with our glowing review of "The Star Spangled Man." Now, it's time to take a closer look at those big new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As expected, Erin Kellyman is indeed playing Karli Morgenthau, a new take on Karl Morgenthau, a villain who went by Flag-Smasher in the comics. Their missions are mostly the same, though we're not expecting the Solo: A Star Wars Story actress to don a cape and start wielding a mace!
John Walker/Captain America has a partner in Cle Bennett's Lemar, a character later identified as Battlestar. A close ally of U.S. Agent in the source material, both heroes ended up receiving strength augmentation from a villain called The Power Broker. During the closing moments of this episode, we learn that his men are after the Flag-Smashers, so chances are he's also responsible for them becoming super soldiers (and likely for both the new Cap and Sam eventually getting an upgrade).
As for who's playing The Power Broker, we currently have no idea, but doubt it's someone like Zemo.
Finally, we also meet Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) and Eli Bradley (Elijah Richardson). The former was once a super soldier in the MCU, though his comic book counterpart was Captain America for a time. His grandson Eli, meanwhile, is likely to be best known to many of you as Young Avengers member Patriot.
Clearly, the stage is being set for some big names to be added to this shared world moving forward...
