THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Marvel Select Action Figure Reveals Sam Wilson's Captain America Costume

It's no secret that Sam Wilson will eventually suit up as Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and a Marvel Select action figure reveals a detailed look at the hero's star spangled attire!

By Nighthawk01 - Mar 24, 2021 02:03 PM EST

The series premiere of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier introduced John Walker as Captain America, a strange decision when we've known since Avengers: Endgame that Sam Wilson will ultimately wield the shield. Anthony Mackie has talked openly about what it means to be a Black actor taking on such an iconic role, as have Kevin Feige and showrunner Malcolm Spellman.

So, The Falcon becoming Captain America isn't a spoiler...his costume, however, arguably is.

Discovered by Marvelous News (who uncovered the images on an official Disney retailer), this Marvel Select action figure based on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier shows off the new Captain America costume in great detail. It looks utterly phenomenal, though those wings are particularly eye-catching.

Anyway, Marvel Studios has stuck to the comics with this one, and it pays homage both to Steve Rogers and The Falcon's other MCU suits in a few very cool ways. Seeing this in live-action promises to be a real treat, and unlike toy images which surfaced some time ago, this better represents what we'll see on screen. Unfortunately, we don't know which episode Sam will first suit up in!

looks cheesy but probably great in live action

@CyberNigerian - I wonder why they never changed his name from The Falcon to The Eagle when he takes on the mantle.

@SonOfAGif - American Eagle would have been cool. On the nose...but cool.
SonOfAGif

@PerrinNation1 - Considering American Eagle is a clothing store along with the express name for American Airlines, I don't know if they would be able to call him American Eagle. But Eagle is definitely a cool name.

@SonOfAGif - probably the same reason people were upset when miles morales was given his own superhero identity. It just looks like a downgrade.

Just because it’s obvious, doesn’t mean this isn’t a spoiler

@Armageddon26 - Yeah it’s 100% a spoiler and probably won’t happen until the last episode.

@Armageddon26 - I really don't think "spoilers" like this spoil much of anything though. The journey to becoming Captain America is the arc of the story.

@Armageddon26 - If that's where we're at now then we may as well not know anything at all. The title is a spoiler. At some point this paranoia over spoilers gets taken too far. Not every minute detail needs to be protected the same way an important plot twist or reveal does.

I dont hate it, I kinda wished theyd come to the conclusion in the show that there didnt need to be a Captain America. Sam works for me taking the mantle (although I think Bucky would still be my preference), but something about Falcon having both the wings and the shield doesn't work for me visually. Idk maybe i'll get used to it.

TheMapleSyrup - 3/24/2021, 3:00 PM
@Ha1frican - the only reason I would want Bucky to take the mantle more than Sam is because I think falcon is a more interesting character than the winter soldier. But Sam definitely has the personality imo

Ha1frican - 3/24/2021, 4:01 PM
@TheMapleSyrup - For me I just find te idea of Bucky taking up the mantle to no only honor his friend but also atone for the things hes done as The Winter Soldier is more compelling to me than Sam having the role. Hes interesting enough in his own right but making him Cap doesn't really add anything to that for me

Could use a bit more red on the wings

I don't understand Marvel sometimes. They'll go bright for White Vision, bright for Captain America (Sam), but muted for Scarlet Witch?

This costume pops! I was always disappointed that they got rid of most of the white on steve cap's uniform.

hmmm I hope it looks less corny in live action. I loved how tactical and militarized Cap's suits looked since Winter Soldier. I'd love for them to take inspiration from that.
