It Appears As If Marvel's INHUMANS Has Been Cancelled By ABC Before Season 1 Even Airs

Marvel's Inhumans has been torn apart by critics and word of mouth isn't pointing to particularly strong ratings when it debuts on ABC. As a result, it appears as if the show has already been cancelled.

Things have not been looking good for Inhumans for quite some time. Set photos and the first official image weren't at all well-received, while the trailers for the series pointed to the ABC/IMAX collaboration not being anywhere near as good as all that talk of a big budget suggested. In terms of box office performance, Inhumans did only ok earlier this month and ratings are expected to be low.

As a result, it probably won't surprise you to learn that ABC and Marvel seem to be preparing for the worst. According to Renew Cancel TV, the network is promoting Inhumans as "the COMPLETE series" rather than a first season and that's led them to believe plans for a second season have been scrapped.

Nothing is set in stone, of course, and it's entirely possible that a second season could happen if Inhumans exceeds expectations when it debuts later this month. That's probably quite unlikely, though, especially as word of mouth isn't good and viewers are unlikely to tune in as a result. It's a shame this has happened but at least the door is now potentially open to the property being rebooted as a movie!

That's likely a long way off, unfortunately, so for the time being, we'll just have to put up with this iteration! How do you guys feel about this news? As always, let us know your thoughts below.

UPDATE: ABC has reached out to us with the following statement: "Please be advised on background that this is the same promotional verbiage we’ve been using throughout our campaign, as this is not a new poster." With that in mind, we probably shouldn't take that "the COMPLETE series" quote as gospel and the door might just still be open for a second season to happen. Stay tuned for updates.

@RasAlGhul - It says they're marketing it as the complete series, meaning they're still airing the entire first season but hopes of a 2nd are completely done. So the series can indeed still be good (doubtful) but they have very little faith in it. Their only chance is if theres a huge following and brings in the ratings.

@RasAlGhul - Writings been on the wall the second it was announced as a tv series. It won't be good.

As for why ABC greenlit it: Marvel property, Shields's been a success...Disney owns ABC.

@Himura - so, 100m was lost like that??

@RasAlGhul - Networks and movie producers take that gamble with anything they invest in. It's part of the business. To them, they'd rather cut their losses than keep losing money.

@RasAlGhul - And lets face it. The execs at ABC have probably already seen the entire series (or at least a rough cut if it). It's not like it's on-going. They've filmed it all already. If they're going to make such a drastic decision like this, then they probably saw it and realized "crap, this show really is a POS"

@IronMandarin - Yeah, I agree. Audiences are loving Inhumans just like they did with Iron Fist and the latter got renewed for S2. Let's hope Inhumans gets high ratings so it can get renewed for a second season too, further defying the critics. They don't even know what shows are bad or good. All this hate for both shows has gotta stop and we're gonna do that by making less and less people listen to them. That'll make them realise their mistake, delete all the negative reviews and give the shows more positive reviews.

@brodie999 - Lol dude you misunderstood my comment. I said that I wanted to see it more because I want to see for myself if it really as bad as I'd heard. I like the Inhumans in the comics but not to the point where I won't mock them if their show is stupid.

And I'm sorry but you realise how naive that sounds right? Reviews don't work like that.

If this is an attempt to trigger everyone in the comments then I applaud you because you've done it.
