Jessica Jones lost its way after a stellar first season, ultimately making creative decisions with its characters that fans simply couldn't get on board with. However, Krysten Ritter's performance as the title character couldn't be faulted and neither could what David Tennant brought to the table as Kilgrave, a.k.a. Purple Man.
While the villain's story reached a somewhat definitive end after he was killed by Jessica, Kilgrave later returned as a figment of the P.I.'s imagination. Now, with Marvel Studios starting to bring back characters from "The Defenders Saga," could David Tennant be given the opportunity to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut?
Talking at the Fan Expo in Boston this weekend, the Doctor Who star told those in attendance that he thinks it would be "difficult" to bring Purple Man back, pointing out the character's "specific" relationship with Jessica Jones. However, he was also quick to mention that a return isn't off the table providing Marvel Studios can find a way to make it work.

It's worth noting that Kilgrave also has a storied history with Daredevil, and most recently factored heavily into the comic book storyline that saw The Kingpin take over New York City as its Mayor. Rumour has it the MCU's Wilson Fisk will also be gunning for that position, so Kilgrave could make his return.
After all, it's believed shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones took place in another part of the Multiverse, freeing Marvel Studios from having to adhere to any creative or casting decisions made by Marvel Television.
We'll see what the future holds in store for Purple Man, but rumour has it Ritter will return as Jessica in Echo before taking on an even greater role in Daredevil: Born Again.
