In a little over a week, the weird world of
Legion will be returning to FX.
The show's cast and crew recently sat down in this featurette to tell us what to expect from season 2.
Last season, we left off with David being zapped into in an orb after an epic showdown with the Shadow King. It seems season 2 episode 1 will pick up with David returning to Summerland. While he thinks he's only been in the orb for a day, he's actually been missing for a year. When he is reunited with and questioned by Syd and the rest of his friends, they have some doubts he is telling the truth about where he has been.
The last trailer for Legion season 2 revealed that the Summerland group are now working for Division III, having joined forces with them to find and defeat the Shadow King. David’s old enemy has found a way to “infect” people, which could have catastrophic consequences given how powerful Farouk has proven to be. In this new promo, Hawley explains that season 2 will expand the first season’s themes and look at shared delusions and madness:
“The first year was very much about mental illness and that idea of what’s normal and what’s not normal… I wanted to continue to explore those ideas about mental illness: what is a delusion, how does a delusion take hold, how does it thrive. What does it take for a group of people to go mad?”
Here is a summary of what will happen this season:
In an epic showdown, David and his friends battled his demon, ultimately forcing it from David’s body. Unfortunately, Farouk found a new host – Melanie’s husband Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement) – and escaped. Just when they thought they’d earned a moment of respite, a mysterious orb appeared and took David away to an unknown place. With David and Oliver missing and Farouk on the loose, the team forms an unlikely alliance with their former enemy Clark (Hamish Linklater) and his well-funded government organization, Division III. Meanwhile, Amahl Farouk (Navid Negahban) is on a new path to attaining infinite and world-ending power.
Legion stars Dan Stevens as David Haller, Rachel Keller as Syd Barrett, Jean Smart as Melanie Bird, Aubrey Plaza as Lenny Busker, Jeremie Harris as Ptonomy Wallace, Amber Midthunder as Kerry Loudermilk, Bill Irwin as Cary Loudermilk, Katie Aselton as Amy Haller, Jemaine Clement as Oliver Bird and Navid Negahban as Amahl Farouk, a.k.a. the Shadow King.
Legion Season 2 returns to FX April 3, 2018.
