MARVEL'S HOWARD THE DUCK Writers Express Excitement To Work On The New Adult Animation Series

Marvel and Hulu surprised the masses of fans when they announced five new adult animation series: Howard the Duck, Hit-Monkey, M.O.D.O.K., Tigra and Dazzler Show, with Offenders being the culmination event for them.

It seems that the idea here is to go all out by looking at the writing teams on each of the respective shows. Talent such as Patton Oswalt, Chelsea Handler, and even Kevin Smith and Dave Willis are being utilized to create a fun new deal which should be a bright spot in a dark time, ie The Defenders cancellation.

Kevin Smith has a very devoted fanbase that has been waiting for him to work on a Marvel project. Some might be disappointed to find that the talented niche director has been relegated to an animated project, but as you can see from his comments below, Smith thinks it's definitely the right place for him.

The times we're living in deserve an orator who can identify all the quacks in the system - a straight shooter who won't leave us holding the bill. Thanks to Marvel and Hulu, I get to do fowl things to one of my all time favorite comic book characters in animation! Let's be honest: I'm not talented enough to handle any of the Avengers, but Howard is definitely in my wheelhouse!

Kevin Smith isn't the only one writing for Howard the Duck, as he will be joined by cartoon legend Dave Willis (Squidbillies, Aqua Teen Hunger Force). See what Smith has to say about that partnership below.

However, the real brains of our operation is a legit cartoon genius: the great Meatwad himself 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force's' Dave Willis! So prepare to get ducked hard!

Well, what do you guys make of this? Does it help knowing that the creative team is passionate about making a good product? Be sure to share your thoughts down below.

If they don't make jokes about duck nipples at least once the entire production is a failure.

@Reeds2Much - I'm not sure anything can hold back Meatwad and Silent Bob.

@Reeds2Much - Forget nipples, I need a graphic representation of Howard the Duck's penis.

Will Seth Green do the voice of Howard the Duck?

@superbigguy32 - See, there is a bit there in the description for the series that makes me think he might be the same character, even with some potential fourth wall breaks.

@LiteraryJoe - Agreed. Seth Green really nails all sides of Howard. It'd be amazing if he came back to reprise the role in the character's show. Heck, they might even flesh out his whole backstory something that never happened in the comics.

I had no idea Kevin Smith was involved with Howard the Duck until yesterday. I’ve hated a lot of his recent flicks but I can see him doing wonders with this.

@MUTO123 - I hope he does well. I think he will based on his passion for the project, honestly.

I know Kevin Smith hasn't made a well-received movie in more than a decade, but hot-diggity-darn if this isn't a match made in heaven. Kevin Smith + Howard the Duck =

1 step closer to the Howard the Duck MCU movie I dream about.

The MCU will not be complete with Howard the Duck movie. I want full on no holds barred characterteristic marvel comedy and ribald comedy.

Patton Oswalt seems like the type to have read this, right?

Is there any other story that could hold up as the pinnacle of MODOK?

Seems also to fit perfectly with Howard the Duck's tone.

@parkerray - Do you think Deadpool will be the leader?
parkerray
parkerray - 2/21/2019, 10:13 PM
@LiteraryJoe - Deadpool? Haha, you mean because he randomly dollar sign leads everything, haha. Or am I forgetting something from the comic? I'm all for team-ups and cameos in whatever case. How about She-Hulk? And Man-Thing?
LiteraryJoe
LiteraryJoe - 2/21/2019, 11:06 PM
@parkerray - No, because FX didn't go through with Donald Glover's Deadpool series but Rob Liefield said there is still a Deadpool animated series coming. I can see marvel using Deadpool here before branching him out similar to the punisher in the Defenders.

@parkerray - She-Hulk would make sense but I think she's gonna be MCU with an altered origin. Also, Man-Thing is in the MCU as well. Was mentioned in AOS.
