The pandemic threw many of Marvel Studios' plans into disarray, which could go some way towards explaining the apparent lack of connectivity between projects. In the case of Ms. Marvel, we did get a tease for The Marvels and a huge Kamala Khan reveal that's set the stage for mutants to finally make their presence felt in the MCU.
What we didn't get, however, were villains who actually made much of a lasting impact.
The Clandestine came across as being very low budget and were dealt with almost as quickly as they appeared. Their importance to the overall story being told proved minimal, and Head Writer Bisha K. Ali has even acknowledged that there's an awful lot about these mysterious beings from the Noor Dimension that we didn't get to see.
Now, thanks to concept artist Emmanuel Shiu, we know that we also missed out on a trip to the Noor Dimension! As you can see below, an early idea clearly called for Kamala to be transported to the mystical realm her grandmother called home. Was this just too much for a Disney+ budget?
We'll never know, but based on these illustrations, it's a real shame this sequence failed to make the final cut. It's possible The Marvels will expand on Ms. Marvel's lineage, though, likely linking the Clandestine (or that bangle at the very least) to the Kree somehow.
