Let me start by saying that lots of shows get retooled after their pilots have been shown to executives, so it's not the end of the line for FX's
Powers. Although, it's not good news either. The pilot is used as a test to determine if the show should be picked up, and how many episodes to order. And when a retooling of a show is required that means some or all of the cast could be out the door. Or, it could be as simple as adding a character to change the dynamic of the show.
As of right now the show has
Jason Patric (Lost Boys)as the lead playing Detective Christian Walker. Playing the role of Walker’s new partner, Deena Pilgrim, is
Lucy Punch (Bad Teacher, Dinner for Schmucks). And the girl in the pink dress in those T-Mobile commercials,
Carly Foulkes, is playing the superhero, Retro Girl. Carly was expected to be a big part of the pilot as she was playing the first victim to be investigated by Detective Walker and Detective Pilgrim.
The Hollywood Reporter
Outlaw had been pitted against FX's other pilot option, comic book adaptation Powers. The waiting game carried on care of the network's desire to see the latter's special effects, but after seeing a finished product the network has requested similar retoolings, according to sources.
Powers, a Sony TV production, is based on the long-running Image/Icon comic series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming is a police procedural with supernatural element. Jason Patric stars as Christian Walker, a cop who works in the Powers division of the police force and deals with crimes involving those endowed with special abilities.
Deadline
FX has passed on its Nashville-set drama pilot Outlaw Country while keeping its other pilot, Powers, alive. The project, based on the comic book of the same name, will undergo redevelopment and reshoots.
