FX's POWERS TO Have It's Fate Decided By March 1st
Charles Dutton states that due to contractual structuring, the FX superhero cop drama must be decided upon by the first of March.
Charles Dutton who portrays Captain Cross on the "maybe" happening adaption of the Brian Michael Bendis comic book Powers stated the following to MTV when asked about the fate of the show.
"“Last I heard, without bugging FX, is that they don’t know either … but they have to come up with something fast, because on March 1, everybody’s deal changes,” Dutton, went on to say that, “If I was a betting man, I would be hedging the bet, because we’re getting close to that contract date.”
As many of you know, the FX network decided that the initial pilot did not capture the type of visuals and tone the network envisioned for Powers and ordered work to begin on a complete reshooting of the pilot. While many expressed worry at the news, it was pointed out that many shows undergo a similar process, including FX's own hit motorcycle drama, Sons of Anarchy. I'll also point out that Fox's adaption of Locke & Key was flat-out shelved after executives saw the pilot, so the FX top dogs apparently see potential here. Based on this fact, a small, sliver of hope remains that we will see the mystery of who killed Retro Girl unfold on the FX channel in the near future.
Here's what Bendis himself tweeted on the fate of the show a few days back.
