RUNAWAYS Season 2 Adds Jan Luis Castellanos As Topher; First Official Image Released

During the Marvel's Runaways panel at NYCC yesterday, it was announced that a fan-favorite character would be joining the super-powered teens for the Hulu show's second season.

Newcomer Jan Luis Castellanos will play Topher, who is described as "a crafty runaway who schools our kids on new levels of street game. The consummate survivor, Topher knows how to read the room and win friends."

Possible SPOILERS ahead: In the comics, Topher actually reveals himself to be a villain who has infiltrated the team. Oh, and he also happens to be a vampire. Whether the show follows suit in that regard remains to be seen.

Marvel's Runaways - Topher

In Season 2, the Runaways have left their homes (and evil parents) behind and now have to learn to live on their own. As they scavenge for food, search for shelter, and take care of one another, our kids begin to realize, for better or worse, they're stuck with each other. And it's up to them to take down P.R.I.D.E. once and for all. But someone sent a mysterious message to Jonah... Is there a mole in the Runaways? Meanwhile P.R.I.D.E. is focused on finding their children, and Jonah has his own dangerous plan in mind.

Runaways returns for a 13-episode second season on December 21.

I'm hopeful for this show. The first season was pretty good. Had it's slow moments, but it's an ambitious comic book to tackle and make a tv show.

The parents aren‘t really evil, Jonah is the big bad guy, I don‘t like that

Okay, so I think I've got it figured out. I'm going to knock out DDS3 in no more than a week, and then from there I'm doing a deep dive on Runaways the rest of the year through mid January so that I have time to pace myself.

Once THAT has been finished, I'm going to pick up AoS from Season 2.5 and then catch up on that through the Spring, the thing I've been trying to do since June of this year.

Certain episodes were soooooo cringey. But the biggest flaw was it's just so boring. It took me months to finish season 1 because I had to pallet cleanse then convince myself to watch another episode every time, just hoping it would capture the magic in the comics. I'll give season 2 another shot but after that I'm out.

@ArthurFleck - On paper, this is one of the most gonzo series on TV right now.

But the tone and approach undercut the weirdness rather than capitalizing on it. To me, that means it's got a lot of growth potential and I hope they realize it. The cast is remarkably solid for being so young.

@Spock0Clock - I completely disagree. The casts had acting was the source of many of my cringe moments. But to each their own I suppose.

Really enjoyed the first few episodes, but the rest was kinda boring. Hopefully this season will be on par with those first two episodes

I doubt he'll be a vampire in the show since Nico isn't even a real witch

I'm excited for this season. I loved season one even though it had its flaws and I'm looking forward to see if this season will improve anything.

And speaking of Topher, I don't think he'll be a vampire. There aren't any vampires in the MCU and just introducing them in a show rather than a movie would just be really weird. Who knows? Maybe they'll just put together some weird explanation of how nobodies heard of vampires in the MCU before.
