THE PUNISHER Season 2: Frank Castle Goes Back To Work In New Teaser Ahead Of Show's Return In January

The new year has only just begun and Frank Castle is already eager to return to work. 2018 was a grim year for Marvel series on Netflix, but 2019 will start off with a bang as Season Two of Marvel's The Punisher will premiere sometime in January.

In anticipation of the show's return, Marvel Entertainment has released a new video teasing the return of series on Netflix. The 30-second teaser shows Frank Castle burning the pardon he received after the events of the first season and teases that The Punisher Season Two will be "coming soon."

When last we saw Frank Castle, he'd received a pardon from the government. But can Frank really stay out of trouble? As seen in the teaser above, there's reason to remain skeptical...

Netflix hasn't officially announced a premiere date for the second season, although the company's Twitter account for the Middle East and North Africa did post a list of release dates for new content coming to the streaming service in January. Season Two of Marvel's The Punisher was listed for January 18.

Plot details for the second season remain under wraps, but showrunner Steve Lightfoot did recently tell Collider that the theme of Season 2 is "about Frank really adopting the mantle of The Punisher."

While fans are excited for the return of Frank Castle to Netflix, there's the very real possibility that this will be the final season for The Punisher. It is one of just two Marvel series left on the streaming service after the cancellations of Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. With only the third season of Jessica Jones remaining, the seemingly inevitable end to the Marvel universe on Netflix is looming.
