WHAT IF...? - New Funko Pops Feature The Monstrous Marvel Zombies (Possible SPOILERS)

There are now only four episodes of What If...? left on Disney+, and this week's take on "Marvel Zombies" was one of the most highly anticipated from day one. There are still plenty of surprises to come - we've yet to see that heroic Erik Killmonger or Party Thor, for example - but for now, Funko has shared a new wave of Pop figures based on "What If...Zombies?!"

There will be a couple of versions of "Zombie Hunter Spidey," (with and without his mask), but it's the undead we're most interested in. As you can see, Captain America, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, The Falcon, and the Scarlet Witch will all be available, though the latter might be considered a spoiler after the big twist with her and The Vision in the closing few minutes of the episode.

It would be crazy for Marvel Studios not to revisit this "Marvel Zombies" concept somewhere down the line, but it remains to be seen how standalone these episodes in the animated series prove to be.

Captain Carter is expected to return, though, as is Doctor Strange Supreme. Some fans believe they'll be brought together to tackle these zombies, but time is obviously going to tell on that front. We have a feeling the "Guardians of the Multiverse" actually assemble to face either The Vision, who is powered up by the Infinity Stones, or the creature believed to be Shuma Gorath.

Check out these new What If...? Funko Pops (and the many variants available) in the Tweet below:

@dracula - he barely even wore the cape. Scott Lang wore it for longer than he did.

Bugged me that all the promos and merch has Spidey wearing his mask, yet it was nowhere to be seen

I guess that's a minor gripe, but still. Also, like others have said, there were way too many jokes in an otherwise cool episode

@QuiGonsGhost - Yeah.

I love me some Marvel; but this feels like a parody of the formula. Yes the MCU has been quippy in dire situations, but What If feels like it doesn’t know how to balance it.

SPOILERS: are we supposed to feel any kind of tension when Wanda shows up? Cuz Scott doesn’t shut the frick up & no one seems perturbed by the situation.

Even the loss of friends to zombism has no emotional impact on anyone except Peter. A big part of the Zombie genre is having to dispatch your loved ones; can you do it? Can you carry on after they’re gone? This felt like someone read that on a wiki, had Peter say it, but nobody felt it. Hope just exploded her “friend” & it’s played for laughs.

@MG0019 - yeah, it was definitely odd. Everyone in the episode was like, "oh no... anyway".

And the whole, Peter's Guide to the Apocalypse was weird to me as well

This had the potential of being the best What If episode, but somehow they managed to make it the worst.

Everyone acts as if levity cant exist in otherwise dramatic and dark stories lol. Using Ant-Man and Spidey as that I thought was very well done and sure while some jokes were better than others, but overall this episode still managed to become my second fav of the series so far.

@Oreomega526 - there is a difference between appropriately timed levity and what was on display in this episode. The worst case of MCU humor undercutting emotional moments yet. Somehow, Peter was the most mature character in the episode (apart from the horrible opening vlog that he apparently made after his aunt and all of his friends died).

If the animated format seemed to be holding the show back from being more mature, that would be one thing - but the episode prior to this was great with a consistent mature tone.

@NoerGregorio - I mean clearly I disagree lol. They were able to lay in a bunch of jokes but still tell a pretty dark and sad story. Like I said, not everything landed, but there were far more hits than misses here imo. Not saying that's always the case with MCU projects, but in this specific case, the balance worked for me. Especially given the explanations for why Spider-man and Ant-Man were cracking wise.

Ending it with that cliffhanger was pretty lame. Felt like half an episode. This was my most anticipated What If too so I'm a bit disappointed.

@Himura - One has to wonder where Thor was the entire time ? If the premise was the same as Infinity War, Thor should have arrived on Wakanda before Thanos.

As a Spidey fan I'd love to have that Funko.
