WHAT IF...? Character Posters Confirm This Week's Episode Will Finally Introduce The MARVEL ZOMBIES

We've been looking forward to this one, and it's now been confirmed that this Wednesday's episode of What If...? is going to put the spotlight on the MCU's version of Marvel Zombies! Check out the posters!

What If...? has taken us on quite a ride thus far, putting crazy new spins on movies like Captain America: The First Avenger, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, and Doctor Strange

However, we can now confirm that this Wednesday's episode will tell what we're assuming is an original story when it takes us to a world of Marvel Zombies. The question this instalment asks won't be revealed until tomorrow, but a couple of character posters have shed some light on what we can expect.

As you can see, Captain America and Hawkeye are the two "heroes" highlighted here by Marvel Studios, though we're sure they aren't going to be alone. Trailers for the series have confirmed that the likes of Bucky Barnes, Spider-Man, and, uh, Scott Lang's head will assemble to battle the undead versions of Earth's Mightiest Heroes - though we're a little surprised not to see Spidey here.

We're sure this one will be a blast, but with only four episodes to go, time is running out for some of the Variants we've met to cross paths (something we know happens courtesy of recent promos).

Check out these new posters for What If...? below:

The last two episodes of the series were pretty dark. I can't wait to see how dark they get with this Zombie episode.

Kinda expected this episode later as this is the episode I expect The Watcher to really interfere in.

Anyway, really look forward to this episode. Especially what the What If is gonna be. Judging from their outfits (and Iron Man's) this takes place atleast around the time of Civil War/Infinity War

"marvel zombies" are a very specific thing. These look more like generic zombies.

Probably gonna rival last week's episode with how dark things will get. Looking forward to it.

@ModHaterSLADE - Amazing how you can say basically the same thing in two sentences that it took me a short novel to write. I really need to see someone about my verbal drooling ;)

@StSteven - Nothing wrong with expanding on your opinion when it is well thought out. 👍

I referred to this in another thread about the Dr. Strange episode, but after that episode I don't think that there are a whole lot of dark corners that Marvel isn't willing to go to with this show. Also as each episode has been (in my opinion) darker (or at least more "out there") than the last, I think that this episode will be pretty intense. Seriously, at this point it wouldn't surprise me at all if this episode ends with Cap eating Spidey's brain or something equally as unexpected. The kind of thing that makes you just go "Huh. Didn't see that coming." I mean, if you take a step back and look at just the last two episodes alone objectively, we've had one about a serial killer and the other about **SPOILERS** the end of an entire universe and everyone in due to one man's hubris. That's like Greek tragedy-level shit. And, yeah, we still have the Ultron episode coming so who knows how far they're going to go wit that. I definitely think that Marvel has a method to their madness and that the episodes are in this order for a reason. I wouldn't be surprised if the next episode after Zombies is the Party Thor one or another of (presumably) lighter fare just to give us a bit a break from all the darkness recently. But who knows - the Party Thor one could have a dark side that we don't know about yet. I just think that after the first episode we all (myself included) just figured that the series would basically be about "what if *blank* were *blank* instead of *blank*" and everything still turned out fine in the end, just a little different that what we are used to. But by now I honestly don't know what they're going to throw at us, which in my opinion makes it a MUCH better show (not that I thought it was bad at all to start with).

@StSteven - Yeah, I really think Spider-Man will be eaten and we will be like "woah, this was weird". But that's totally a "zombie thing" - and in "Marvel Zombies" almost everyone dies and when you start to think that some character will "save the day" this character dies hahahah

@StSteven - I fully expect Spidey to survive (especially because they made the effort to differentiate him from MCU spidey with Dr. Stranges Cloak), as they are going for a Guardians Of The Multiverse towards the end of the season, judging by the promo art. The other characters I don‘t know about but I‘m almost certain that he will survive this one. I think. Maybe.

@MeAreLegend - Well I haven't seen it yet, but as far as I'm concerned, nothing is off of the table for these shows. Yes, they are saying that it's all canon, but it's "multiverse canon", meaning that they can do whatever they want and label it as "multiverse shenanigans".

That being said, they do have a figure of Spidey with the cape (along with at least Zombie Cap, so who knows what that all means). I've given up guessing what Marvel is doing at this point. It's probably just better for us to all sit back and enjoy the ride ;)

I hope season 2 is already done and ready to go. But sheesh this series has been dark apart from the first 2 episodes

So we either have 4 or 5 episodes left right?

I think that leaves the Black Widow/Ultron, Party Thor, Killmonger Stark and evil Gamora episodes, right?

@OmegaDaGrodd - Is there not going to be a second part to that episode where Hank Pym killed the Avengers before they could form? It ended with Fury calling in Captain Marvel and he was going to build a different Avengers team. I was kind of looking forward to seeing what that team would look like.

Doctor Strange and the Marvel Zombies episodes were the ones I was most looking forward to.

I'd say Doctor Strange was definitely the best episode so far.

Nice posters, hopefully this one is on par or close to last week's with Doc Strange Supreme.
