Series creator Tim Kring will use 13-episode mini-series Heroes Reborn as an opportunity to reboot the Heroes brand. The show will feature a lot of fresh faces. There will also be some familiar ones, but Zachary Quinto's won't be one them. He revealed that he was contacted by Kring to reprise his role, but turned down his offer.

"No, I'm not going to go back," Quinto told Buzzfeed's Kate Arthur at the Sundance Film Festival. "I talked to them about it, and Tim reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation. It was such a meaningful experience for me - I loved that job, I loved those people. I just felt like I didn't want to go back to it."

Quinto says Kring "was very understanding and supportive" about his decision not to play Sylar again. "I'm thrilled that they're doing it. I'm thrilled that Jack Coleman is going back to it. And I know that they just cast Zach Levi, which is great. I mean, it's a great thing to be a part of, I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself.
"

Dang it! This news makes me so mad I could scalp someone with my finger.

The saga behind the 2006 breakout series Heroes will continue as creator Tim Kring returns to the fold and develops new layers to his original superhero concept. This highly anticipated 13-episode miniseries will reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities. This series will be preceded by a new digital series that will introduce audiences to the new characters and storylines that will take the Heroes phenomenon to new places.

Well no Sylar, no Peter, what's the purpose of reviving the series anyway? First two seasons were good but afterwards everything went to hell. NBC's losing some quality.

I was wary about this show when it was first announced, just because after the second season the show was complete sh*t. But once I saw that Zachary Levi was cast in a leading role, I was persuaded into tuning in. I watched Levi on Chuck, and I feel that pretty much anything he is in is fun.

Seasons 1 + 2 were the best.

Skylar made that show at times. Shows went down hill after season 2. Got way too much into the mythology

that writer's strike really damaged that show though.

Oh thank god. I love Quinto but the writers abused him. He's like that nice woman who bakes you great pastries everyday. You love her for it but damn her cookies will kill you one day on the calories alone.

Sylar was one of the main reasons the show sucked after Season 1. It's not the only reason but it is one of a few (writer's strike too).

This tells me Tim Kring is looking to cash in on the success of comic book media and has learned nothing from why Heroes sucked so much after Season 1.

I thought the first season was brilliant. Second season was decent. After that, very meh.

Quinto was great, but the wishy washy writing of Sylar was one of the biggest problems. "I'm a crazy killer. But maybe I'm kind of good. But I'm actually evil. But now I'm a better person."

Not sure what to expect from Heroes Reborn, but it's probably a good thing that they won't be trying to figure out another twist on Sylar.

Season 1 is still the best though. 2 & 3 are also really good. 4 could have been much better but wasn't nearly as bad as people say.

Season 1 was great everything after was just "okay" to "bad".

Sylar was the best character on the show until it became stupid that it was revealed he was related to the Petrelli's.

Yeah Sylar was a great character and Heroes a great series that all went skee-wif sharply. Glad he's not coming back, more new characters is probably the key they messed his up. Probably a great example of how a series can go down the pan once the main vision is lost.

Since I saw Sylar as one of the symptoms of what was wrong with the show I can't say I'm too sad about this. He had his place and role in S1, but after that it just became a confused mess.

I loved the idea of Heroes back in the day, and S1 came really close to being great. But to me it ultimately failed with the non-ending, which tied it closely to the following seasons. Which were somewhat entertaining to watch, but had waaaay too many problems going on.

I'll check out this new show when it's out, but I can't say I'm overflowing with anticipation. It will be way harder for a new Heroes to stand out among today's shows than it was during the original run. Maybe they blow me away with a well thought out plot and consistent, amazing writing this time, I certainly wouldn't complain about it.

I never watched past the first season when it was out, but last month I started back from the beginning on Netflix and trying to make it all the way through this time, but 4 episodes into season 2 and I'm already thinking about moving on to something else. I just can't seem to keep any interest in it.
