The speculation was true. Netflix has officially revealed Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the latest entry in the popular sci-fi anthology series.

Netflix dropped a trailer for the feature-length special, confirming it will premiere on the streaming service tomorrow, Friday, December 28.

The trailer appears to reaffirm what many believed of the episode. It will be set in 1984 and follow a young programmer as he adapts "a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game." But this is Black Mirror we're talking about, so you know things are going to get weird as he "soon faces a mind-mangling challenge." The trailer teases all sorts of mind-bending moments as it appears the virtual world will begin to bleed into reality.

In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge. Welcome back.

One thing the teaser of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch doesn't reveal is if this is a choose-your-own-adventure episode, as many had also speculated it could be. There have been rumors that Black Mirror was exploring such an approach to its storytelling and Netflix does call it an "event." If there were ever a topic that would be more appropriate for a choose-your-own-adventure, this would seemingly be it.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch will premiere on Netflix on December 28.

Trailer seems to lay out the plot, hopefully that's not the case. Method of release mirrors Cloverfield Paradox so should probably be wary. Only hope is if this is another Black Mirror episode coincidentially copying the plot of a short film released years prior like half the rest of the episodes.

Kinda reminds me of Videodrome. That’s a good thing. If you haven’t seen Videodrome I recommend seeing it.
