THE WITCHER: Possible New Look At Henry Cavill As Geralt Of Rivia On The Set Of The Netflix Series

The Witcher is already a hit video game, but Andrzej Sapowski's series of novels is now being adapted for Netflix. A total of eight episodes have been ordered for the show which will include episodes directed by the likes of Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil), Alik Sakharov (Game of Thrones), and Charlotte Brandstrom (Outlander).

Henry Cavill has landed the lead role of Geralt of Rivia and he will be joined by Freya Allan (Ciri, Princess of Cintra), Jodhi May (Queen Calanthe), and Adam Levy (Mousesack).

Now, a photo from the Spanish set of The Witcher reveals what may be our first look at Cavill shooting the series. It's admittedly taken from a distance but, if we're lucky, we'll soon get some detailed images that'll give us a beter idea of what we can expect from the small screen adaptation.

"When destiny hurtles [Geralt] toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret," reads the synopsis, "the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile continent together."

Are you looking forward to checking this one out?

Interesting to see how this turns out. Quietly optimistic.

I wonder what accent Cavill will use in this. It hurts his acting sometimes. In the Man From UNCLE (his best role IMO) it came out a bit. And in Mission Impossible it looked like he had to talk slowly to hide it.

Kind of intrigued by this. Still get surprised that the wig technology in movies is so hit and miss in these modern times.

@SimplyAz - God forbid they actually hire an actor with shoulder-length hair who can LOOK like the character. Nah, gotta go with name recognition and a crappy-looking wig.

@Omegacron -

Exactly, would rather they had just kept Henry's normal hair instead of a wig.-

Low expectations for this, if I'm being honest.

I really hope he gets to use his natural accent, you can even cast people with similar accents as Rivian's if you want to keep it consistent.
Also, where's Dandelion?!! They couldn't have cut him out of the show, could they?

Had they made this 15 years ago, I would've said Adrian Paul (Duncan McCleod) was the perfect choice. Ah, well.
