Netflix has reportedly halted production on The Witcher again after several positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed.

The second season of the adult fantasy adventure series had been shooting at Arborfield Studios in West London, but cameras stopped rolling when four tests came back positive. Shooting is expected to resume once the showrunners decide the set is safe to work on again.

This is the second time production on the second season of The Witcher was forced to pause, as Game of Thrones alum Kristofer Hivju revealed his positive test earlier this year before the pandemic really took hold.

Netflix had begun to promote the show's return with some official stills of the main characters, and fans were anticipating a first trailer hitting over the next few weeks. For now, it looks like we'll have to make do with a few shots of the new monsters Geralt (Henry Cavill) will be facing in season 2.

"Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen," it reveals. "While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside."

The Witcher Season 2 is set to premiere sometime next year, and will also see the return of Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as the sublimely irritating Jaskier.

New additions to the cast include Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, and Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel.
