AHSOKA Finale Recap: Here's Who Wins, Who Dies, And Who Returns In "The Jedi, The Witch, And The Warlord"

As you might expect, a great deal of Ahsoka's finale - appropriately titled "The Jedi, The Witch, And The Warlord" - focuses on the show's heroes attempting to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn from leaving Peridea.

While he tries on numerous occasions to stop them, only Ezra Bridger makes it onto the villain's Star Destroyer thanks to a helping hand from Sabine Wren and her newfound abilities. Morgan Elsbeth, who is granted the Blade of Talzin by The Great Mothers, receives a power-up but is ultimately slain in battle by the former Jedi.

As for that weapon, we're sure you'll remember that Talzin was the Clan Mother of the Nightsisters whose death in The Clone Wars marked the fall of Dathomir and the end of her Nightsister coven. Prior to facing Ahsoka, Elsbeth suggests her actions weren't for the Empire, but for Dathomir. Intriguing, right?

Later, Ahsoka and Sabine pursue the Chimaera in the former's ship but aren't quick enough, leaving Thrawn to return to the core Galaxy. He taunts Ahsoka about potentially ending up like her Master, Anakin Skywalker, and bids farewell to the "Ronin" by declaring, "Long live the Empire."

Ezra, meanwhile, escapes by disguising himself as a Stormtrooper and is welcomed back to the New Republic by Hera Syndulla and Chopper. As for Thrawn, he and The Great Mothers approach Dathomir in the Chimaera while looking out at a loading bay full of thousands of the coffin-like objects we saw being loaded on the ship.

What do they contain? Frustratingly, it's never actually revealed, but if we had to hazard a guess, more Nightsisters. While Thrawn restoring the Empire to its former glory with an army of undead witches isn't exactly the direction we saw this story heading in, it's possible allying himself with Dathomir is the only way for the Imperial to achieve his ultimate goal.

Answers about what that might be will have to wait for another day but Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang end up left behind on Peridea. They succeeded in sending Ezra home, though, and Ahsoka suggests they must now move on and start afresh.

However, as the episode ends, Anakin Skywalker's Force Ghost watches them from afar. It's the first time we've seen him in this form since Return of the Jedi, and he appears both happy and perhaps a little concerned about his old Padawan. Either way, the fact he's on Peridea with them feels significant.

So, while we still have a tonne of unanswered questions, Ahsoka does deliver a satisfying conclusion and sets the stage for more. It feels like there's still too much story to launch straight into Dave Filoni's planned Star Wars movie, so we'd bet on a season 2 heading our way first.

Did you walk away satisfied from the Ahsoka finale? Let us know in the comments section.

And with that if there was any doubt Anakin is fully redeemed.

This show is terrible.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is so boring and useless that he should be called Grand Admiral Yawn

@TyrantBossMedia - why the hate ? This is the first Star Wars property I’ve truly enjoyed in a longggg time.

@TyrantBossMedia - Elaborate why at least this episode was so "bad".
Cap1
Cap1 - 10/5/2023, 2:09 AM
@NinnesMBC - the protagonist and antagonist of the show go an entire season without sharing the screen, the dialogue was as typically cringe and stilted as the entire season, visually a heap of grey flat mush, not a single risk taken or moment of surprise, terribly staged combat/emotional beats, an overbearing, forgettable score that seems to be the only thing that remembers this is meant to be dramatic, Ahsoka is still a dreadfully boring hero. I could go on
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 10/5/2023, 9:03 PM
@Cap1 - They didn't share screen because one was stranded on a different galaxy and half of the hero's goal was to prevent him from coming back, perhaps if you weren't nitpicking it would have registered on you why they didn't meet face to face. Dialogue began like that yeah, all due to Ahsoka and Sabine keeping their guard up around each other for what happened in Mandalore until she gradually losens up across the series, not hard to catch if saw how she behaved after her time in the World Between Worlds and by the time she caught up with her and Ezra she's more open. No stakes in the fights in these last episodes even when Ahsoka lost one of her trademark swords or every time Sabine and Shin clashed and terribly staged combat? I can't tell if you are serious or if you are just another of those infamous all-out SW haters if you think the choreography AND music was bad.

Please, go on.

Nothing said of Baylan or Shin? How did she not make it back with Thrawn?

@Knowherefast - Think it's gonna become clear later on that this show was to get us ready for the Filloni movie. It's gonna be busy.

What a disappointing lackluster show with lightsaber fights that looked worse than most fan films I’ve seen.

@AnthonyVonGeek - You're obviously trolling if you even bothered to see this episode to call the duels that.

@Taonrey - Nah there's one thing in disliking something that truly looks as if no effort had been put in and another is straight up lying like how that guy did and I will call out such nonsense with actual arguments because it's no criticism by then it's trolling, something this site has enough already. It's a very stupid "opinion".

Good S1 finale, delivered on action, character interactions like Huyang and Ezra talking about Kanan and his newest lightsaber being just like Kanan's, as well as Sabine and Ahsoka's arc of master and apprentice coming full-circle while the former mastered more her powers with the Force. Night Troopers becoming Zombie Troopers carried the right amount of creepy factor especially when Ezra and Sabine were fighting those Death Troopers on the tower, details like the Great Mothers' green magik energy glowing in the visor added to the entire thing.

Props to Rosario Dawson and Diana Lee Inosanto, they killed it in their fight scenes. I like how Dave Filoni experiments in making the lightsabers clash against different things in his projects whether they are the Darksaber, beskar weapons or in this case that Blade of Talzin. I would like to keep seeing more of that.

Funniest moment was that Noti getting tased by the cables of the ship while trying to fix it. XD

Thrawn won this battle but the war is still brewing. But I have to admit Josh might be onto something here with the prediction that what is in fact inside those coffin-like objects are more Nightsisters willing to revive for him God knows how many more undead.

And with his eyes set first on Dathomir once his return, can't help but feel like maybe it'd be cool if they could star to connect or syphon with the latest Jedi games. An ally Nightsister like Merrin could come in handy now.

In the meantime it'll have to be Ezra and the New Republic to handle Thrawn. His return is the perfect concrete evidence that will shut up Xiono's denial about Thrawn's return.

Shin joined the bandits and didn't return with Baylan, she's independant now so that'll be interesting and Baylan's goal is with those Mortis Gods statues and whatever presence there's in there. Enough material to continue Ahsoka's story in Peridea as they try to return as well to their galaxy. Because I'm sure they'll continue to clash with Shin and Baylan.

Nice cameo from Anakin at the end too.

There was something very haunting in the way Anakins ghost watched. Like there's something we're not quite getting that he is.

@TheDpool - if there's anything, its probably that Ahsoka and Sabine made it so that Thrawn returned.

And now that I think of it, why didn't Ahsoka destroy the map the moment she found it? She was okay with leaving Ezra for the greater good

I just don't like how open-ended the show leaves thing, but I guess that's the age of streaming.

As for the episode (and the show itself), I quite enjoyed. Sure it did nothing truly unexpected, but it had a ton of cool moments. Doubt Ahsoka is gonna stay on Peridea though. No way they're gonna leave her out of the movie
