Not too long ago, some sketchy sounding rumors started surfacing online that Logan director James Mangold and Alita: Battle Angel director Robert Rodriguez would tackle episodes of The Mandalorian's second season. Mangold quickly debunked those reports, but HN Entertainment is now claiming that they've been able to CONFIRM Rodriguez's involvement in the Disney+ TV series.
Though we previously heard that both filmmakers had helped shoot specific sequences for the action-packed space-set father/son drama, it now sounds like Rodriguez helmed an entire episode!
His directing credits include Spy Kids, Sin City, Machete Kills, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, and the aforementioned Alita: Battle Angel. Rodriguez has an excellent handle over action scenes, and we're excited to see what sort of adventure he's able to send the Mandalorian and The Child on.
Jon Favreau, Carl Weathers, and Dave Filoni are all expected to direct episodes of The Mandalorian season 2 as well. Thus far, an entire list of filmmakers who will get to hang out with the adorable Baby Yoda has not been revealed, but Disney+ will hopefully pull the curtain back on them soon.

Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past.
