THE MANDALORIAN: Disney Reveals Plans For A New Series Of Books Inspired By The STAR WARS TV Series

The Mandalorian is perhaps the most well-received Star Wars project from the Disney-owned Lucasfilm, and they have now announced a new series of books and comics inspired by the hit Star Wars TV show...

Star Wars.com has announced a new publishing line dedicated to The Mandalorian, kicking off this fall and continuing through the winter and spring. There's a lot to get excited about here, including an "Art of" book for the Disney+ series which promises to take us into the creation of the Mando's world.

Thus far, the following have been announced by Disney:

  • The Art of The Mandalorian (Season One) by Phil Szostak; cover by Doug Chiang
  • The Mandalorian: Original Novel (adult novel, Del Rey) by Adam Christopher
  • The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide (DK) by Pablo Hidalgo
  • The Mandalorian: Allies & Enemies – Level Two Reader (DLP) by Brooke Vitale
  • The Mandalorian: 8×8 Storybook (title to be revealed later) by Brooke Vitale
  • The Mandalorian: Junior Novelization by Joe Schreiber

That's not all, though, as it's been confirmed that The Mandalorian-inspired comics are coming from Marvel and IDW Publishing, and magazines, novelty, and colouring and activity titles are on the way from Titan, Studio Fun, Crayola, Thunder Bay Press, Disney Publishing Worldwide, and Dreamtivity.

Those Marvel titles sound particularly interesting, especially as their other Star Wars comics have fleshed out the prequel, original, and sequel trilogies in a lot of satisfying ways. With the comic book industry only just starting to come back to life, it remains to be seen when we'll get official word on those, but you can check out the cover of "The Art of The Mandalorian" below:

Can anyone recommend any good recent Star Wars books? Most I've listened to (from Audible)have been very hit or miss.

The best I listened to so far was Maul: Lockdown, Death Troopers and Kenobi by John Jackson Miller.

@GothamSon - the original Timothy Zahn ones we're good, and I really dig Stackpole's X-Wing series. Avoid the Kevin J Anderson ones... Gotta read Death Troopers. Sounded a bit tacky but only heard good things.

@case - Death Troopers just doesn't 'feel' like Star Wars if you know what I mean, gruesome zombie action but if that's your thing, it's great. I preferred 'Red Harvest', its prequel, set in the Old Republic when the sith first invented the virus
