After some set photos did the rounds last week, our first official look at Powerpuff has arrived in the form of a new poster. Apparently, what we saw in those images were the costumes they wore as teens, whereas this is how the heroes will appear as adults.
They look great, though we'd be surprised if they don't suit up in something a little more superhero-ish at some point in The CW series.
"The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes, now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting," reads the synopsis. "Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?"
In the series, Chloe Bennett plays Blossom Utonium, a spunky, conscientious Little-Miss-Perfect whose repressed kiddie-superhero trauma has left her feeling anxious and reclusive. That said, she aims to become a leader again - though this time on her own terms.
Dove Cameron, meanwhile, plays Bubbles Utonium, whose sweet-girl disposition "won America’s hearts" when she was a child. And while she still sparkles as an adult, Bubbles' charming exterior belies an unexpected toughness and wit. She now is initially more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world, but she just might surprise us and herself.
Last but certainly not least, Yana Perrault plays Buttercup Utonium, the "rebellious badass" of The Powerpuff Girls back in their heyday — though she is more sensitive than her tough exterior suggests. Buttercup has spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity, and live an anonymous life.
Powerpuff also stars Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Nicholas Podany as Jojo Mondel, and Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum. Tom Kenny will narrate just as he did in the animated series.
