We have all dreamed of a Joker video game. Or we should be. Sure we have all played as the joker in numerous games throughout the years. In one of the Arkham games we got to play a side mission as Mr. J. We also got to get a feel for his fighting in the Injustice games. But in MY dream, I am fully immersed in the world of the Joker. I want to plan heists like in GTA 5 and have chases from the bat in a tricked out bulldozer. After wondering why this has not happened yet, I figured I would share with you guys my top 10 things I would like to see out of a Joker based video game.
1. Escape from Arkham:
At some point Joker has to show us all how the hell he has been escaping Arkham all these years. This game could show us the planning and execution of this. I see it as either the first or third level. To escape right out the bat seems right. But on the other hand, to come out right away with guns blazing, in a battle with Batman, and then ending up there seems more fun. Let me know what you think.
2. Dilapidated amusement park base:
Joker has one definitive base of operations. A run down amusement park like the one purchased in A Killing Joke, also used in countless Batman stories involving the Clown Prince of Crime.
In this base we would see how Joker and his henchmen live. Classic Joker memorabilia and gags will be strewn around. Perhaps a mountain of money. Hyenas and Harley would lay about. This is where heists and other missions would be planned, with multiple elements of surprises in store for the winged freak. All rigged with that special Joker flare.
3. Inclusion of Harley Quinn:
Harley should have a big presence in this game. Multiple outfits and weaponry. Side missions such as those we had with Robin and Catwoman in the Arkham games.
4. The Joker has a whole slew of henchmen:
As the game goes he could recruit and dress them up in various classic costumes from the comics, cartoons, and movies. As mentioned above he could have the Hyenas from BMTAS, but also other goons such as these.
5. A Joker vehicle that could rival the Batmobile:
I have given this vehicle a lot of thought. It is the subject of my own Batman Comic fan fic I am thinking up. It stems from an episode of Myth Busters where they attach a cattle guard up to a dump truck and easily plow through 15 cars. I thought if Joker could modify this with pop out side gunners, mixed with some tricks such as oil, rockets, and fire, he might be able to take out the Batmobile and escape. This would make for a hell of mission or two in a video game. Imagine plowing through rows of cars and using all kinds of hilarious tricks to escape the Bat, causing as much mayhem as possible. Why? Because you’re the Joker!
6. Planned heists like in GTA 5:
For those who are not familiar with the heists in GTA 5, they kind of go like this. The player picks between different elements of the heist, such as scenarios, crew members, and wich weapons will be used. During the heist the player can then switch between the guys doing the job during their time to shine. Making for a fun experience where we switch from being the Joker driving, to Harley with a rocket launcher, or Bob the goon shooting a chain gun.
7. Battles with various Bat family members:
This one kind of explains itself. Along with the Batman trying to foil your dastardly plans, his boy wonder, batgirl, and others could make appearances too. Maybe at some point in the game we could make traps, gather up all of them, and use them for the ultimate show down with Poppa Bats.
8. Batman rogue team ups:
Everybody likes a good Easter egg in these things. The Joker could have run ins and dealings with all kinds of other Bat villains during his Gotham City rampage. Nothing like teaming up with an old friend, then throwing them under the bus when things get tough.
9. Skills and weapons increase:
Joker has weapons and fighting skills. At first we have a knife. Then a three-foot pistol. The point is, like in all video games these days the further along you get, the cooler and more heinous the Joker and his tactics get. I had an idea for special points when you pull off a practical joke kill.
10. Mark Hamill does the voice acting:
Pretty cut and dry. This is a must.
What would you like to see in a Joker video game?
