MARVEL'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Videos Dive Into The Combat And Gameplay Of The Upcoming Video Game

Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal have released two new gameplay videos for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Although both videos focus on gameplay elements from the upcoming action-adventure RPG, they showcase very different things you'll be doing when both in and out of combat.

In Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, you play as Star-Lord, but as leader of this band of misfits, you'll be assigning orders to your fellow AI-controlled teammates. In combat, this could mean calling on them to execute their special abilities, and the video breaks down each member of the team's role. Rocket, for example, is an explosive specialist with Area-of-Effect damage, while Groot is more of a support character with heal capabilities. To maximize your team's efficiency in combat, you'll need to know who and when to call on them.

The second video explains all the things you'll be doing in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy when you're not in combat. This includes everything from exploring the Milano as well as all the different planets to assigning ability points to each Guardian to customize their playstyle. You'll also be able to unlock gear and special perks for each character and customize their outfits.

Perhaps the biggest gameplay mechanic that'll have the most impact is your role as leader. As such, you'll be making key decisions that will ultimately impact how the game unfolds. Every choice you make in the game will have some sort of consequence that defines your relationship with each character of your team and the story itself.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is set to release next month on October 26, 2021 for all major gaming platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

I'm not sure I like the idea of only playing as Star-Lord but I really like the idea of commanding your allies during battle. That's something that the Avengers game is really missing.

@Kumkani - It's a weird decision. Star Lord has arguably the most boring game mechanics of all the Guardians. PLus I'm not sure how commnanding the other members won't distract from the flow of combat. Still, I'm really looking forward to this. Looks more promising than avengers.

@Fares - He has dual blasters rocket boots...nothing "boring" about that. Groot would inarguably be the most boring. As for the flow of combat, it just augments the combat. You use it strategically based on what you need in a certain moment.

@Tonic24k - Well that certainly depends on your point of view. Firearms are definitely nothing we haven't seen before in gaming, so there's nothing exciting about it for me. Maybe it'll have more mechanics than just "press button to shoot". We'll see, I'm still optimistic about it.

Gameplay doesn't look too impressive but I'm willing to give the game a chance. Pre-ordered for the steelbook.

Game looks fun but my one complaint so far is...why did they make the characters all look so goofy? I don't need Star-Lord to look like Chris Pratt, but he could look a little more legit. The aesthetic for him in Future Revolution looks miles better. Also...Drax...good lord they made him look bad. Gamora is butt ugly. Groot looks silly, and Rocket looks washed up.

With all that out of my system, the graphics actually look really good and polished. I really dig the play style too.
