Ryan Reynolds Reveals How He Could Look As Johnny Cage In Response To MORTAL KOMBAT Fan-Casts

There have been "rumors" doing the rounds that Ryan Reynolds is being lined up to play Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat sequel, and the Deadpool star has now responded with a video-game style rendering.

The final shot of Mortal Kombat confirmed plans to introduce Johnny Cage in a possible sequel (the movie is performing very well, so chances are good), and many fans believe Ryan Reynolds would be the perfect actor to bring the Hollywood hardman to life on the big screen.

Of course, fan-casts gave way to "rumors" that the Deadpool star may actually be in talks to play Cage in Mortal Kombat II, and Reynolds has now responded in typically hilarious fashion.

Making sure to get a plug in for his Mint Mobile promotional campaign, Reynolds took to Twitter to share a video-game style rendering of himself as Johnny Cage fighting for "Mint" against "Big Wireless."

We can't see Reynolds actively campaigning for this role anytime soon, but others have been happy to throw their shades in the ring, including WWE Superstar The Miz.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Ryan Reynolds play Johnny Cage in a Mortal Kombat sequel, or do you have another actor in mind? Let us know in the comments.

Reynolds would bring some star power to the franchise and I think he could do the part pretty damn well but I don’t see it happening

@r4dagast - Well considering how Deadpool came to be (58 mil budget) I can see him doing as a thing that could eentually elevate in terms of $$ to Deadpool and Fast and Furious Money.

That's not a fan cast post by RR, it is a shameless advertisement that has now been parroted here. You have inadvertently posted a Mint ad.

@KingLeonidas - nothing inadvertent. He used a mint ad and labeled it as Ryan Reynolds as Johnny Cage for clicks. This was very intentional.

@KingLeonidas - Didn't say it was a fan cast, I said he was reacting to the fan casts. Everything is an advertisement for something hoss.

While it would be perfect to have him in it I seriously doubt that New Line could afford him. MK1 had a 50mil budget, Reynolds salary alone would eat up half that

I wouldn't mind seeing Reynolds actually, but it has to be something different than his almost typecast roles he nowadays does (although the out-of-his-depth-action-star does fit perfectly with Johnny Cage).

Having a WWE star makes more sense though, and I think Miz looks the part.

@bkmeijer - Miz does look the part but boy he's more of a plank of wood than Lewis Tan. The Marine films he did were awful

@Blergh - okay maybe not Miz then, but when I think of WWE I think of over-the-top acting (and fighting). There are probably other candidates

They should digitally deage Bruce Campbell.

@FinnishDude - That's the kind of actor that needs this franchise, more cheese.

I could totally see him doing it, if they offered him the role.😂

Not even Reynolds can save this I'm afraid.

Anyone that even entertains The Miz acting in a movie...just delete your profile. You've invalidated any opinions you may have.

In the animated movie he's basically inspired on Ryan's characters.

They couldn't afford him, and plus he's already doing Deadpool. They'd be better off going with a no name comedic action actor.
