Ben Schwartz is perhaps best known for voicing the title character in Sonic the Hedgehog, though he can also be seen in this weekend's Flora & Ulysses (read our review by clicking here).
A few years ago, Schwartz expressed an interest in playing DC Comics superhero Plastic Man. He admitted to having a pitch, but never actually wrote anything or presented it to Warner Bros. There have been rumblings since about plans for the character, though we recently learned that a female-led take is in the works.
Now, though, it sounds like the actor has set his sights on a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"There’s an unlimited number of people I’d love to play. There’s also a comic book series I loved when I was a kid called Slapstick, which is this little clown with a big old hammer," Schwartz revealed. "Earlier, this comic book outlet played a game like, ‘I’m gonna name two people and you tell me what’s real and what’s fake with Marvel Heroes.' And the first one was Slapstick and I took out my own comic book like, ‘I own it’ and it was a very wonderful moment for me."
Slapstick doesn't have a lot of history in the Marvel Universe, and outside a wacky movie like Deadpool 3, it's hard to say where he could appear. In the same interview, Schwartz noted that he'd also be open to playing a villain such as The Riddler; unfortunately, that role has been taken already!
Who do you think the actor would be a good fit for in the Marvel or DC Universes?
