TOMB RAIDER: Lara Croft Is Not A Superhero In Another Action-Packed TV Spot

Warner Bros. Pictures has released a second TV spot for their upcoming video game movie adaptation/reboot of Tomb Raider, featuring Lara Croft claiming she's not a superhero (even though she kinda is).

We saw the first TV spot during the AFC Championship Game and it looks like Warner Bros. released a second TV spot during the NFC Championship Game that featured even more action-packed new footage.

Alicia Vikander stars as the young Lara Croft, who embarks on her first real adventure, attempting to uncover the truth about her father's (Dominic West) mysterious disappearance while also attempting to discover a fabled tomb that will finally complete his final mission.

Vikander's supporting cast consists of Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands) and Hannah John-Kamen (Ready Player One), who are playing two of her friends and she'll also face strong opposition in the form of Walton Goggins (Vice Principals).

Watch the new "Begins" TV spot below:

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone.

Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death. Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.

Tomb Raider features:
Director: Roar Uthaug
Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft
Walton Goggins as Mathias Vogel
Daniel Wu as Lu Ren
Dominic West as Lord Richard Croft
Hannah John-Kamen as Sophie
Antonio Aakeel as Nitin
Kristin Scott Thomas as Ana Miller

This looks like a film that WB spend a lot on. Hopefully is good and makes money.

I think the film looks great, the only thing that irks me is the brutal violence of some of the stunts, and I get that it's accurate to the game, it just makes it unbelievable in a film for her to survive those falls.

This will be another disaster just like Assassin's Creed... Certain video games need to he adapted as a series. Assassin's Creed would have worked perfect for HBO. Tomb Raider would have worked well as a series on Netflix.

Titanfall would be good for a feature film. It's plot is pretty straight forward and can be adapted in a 2 hour film.

@SonOfAGif - I wouldn't say AC was a disaster, but I agree it didn't work. And neither would tomb raider

Nothing interesting about this yet. Shame. But bad trailers don't always lead to a bad movie, so fingers crossed. I've never been a Tomb Raider fan per se but I've played one of the new games so I'd like for the movie to be good.

I have to admit, I have no faith in this movie (mainly because it is a game adaptation after all). I do like the choice of music and alicia vikander tho
