TRANSFORMERS Star Mark Wahlberg Is No Longer Attached To Sony's UNCHARTED Movie

If you weren't a fan of the idea of Mark Wahlberg playing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie, you can breathe a sigh of relief today as the actor has revealed that he's no longer attached to the movie.

The Uncharted movie has been in the works for what feels like forever, but with a script by Joe Carnahan and Shawn Levy now attached to direct, things are finally looking up for the adaptation of the beloved PlayStation series. One actor's name which has frequently been attached to the project is Transformers: The Last Knight star Mark Wahlberg, but is that still the case? As expected, it isn't.

"As of now, no, I’m not attached," he confirms in the video below. "If I was, you would have heard about it." That's not to say he couldn't still be approached though, especially as the actor is a box office draw. However, the response from fans when his name first emerged was mixed, so perhaps not!

Either way, with production set to begin next year, it hopefully won't be too long until some names start popping up online. Sony could go the unknown route or find a big name (like Michael Fassbender in Assassin's Creed), but the pressure is on for them to get Uncharted right, especially with such a passionate fanbase. Who would you guys like to see play Nathan Drake? Let us know in the usual place.

Good, was very bad casting imo. Good actor, just there are much better options around.

Why was this even considered in the first place? Sony have quickly become one of the worst Hollywood studios in the last couple years. Ghostbusters, Spectre, nearly destroying Spider-Man as a cinematic entity. The number of ridiculous projects they've given the green light is astounding (seriously, The Emoji Movie? Just [frick] off).

@Spodermug - I agree, they are driving themselves into the mud.

@Spodermug - Sony also did Adam Sandler films before he went to Netflix.

They are indeed the worst movie studio.

If it wasn't for PlayStation, they would be completely worthless.

I'm not going to hate on Mark Wahlburg. He's ok at doing playing certain roles. But asking him if I portray the characteristics of an established character might not be the best idea.

Sigh of relief not "sight" of relief.

This was made apparent months ago. We've had at least two other actors named for Nathan Drake since that news broke.
