A live-action adaptation of hit Xbox franchise Halo has been in the works for what feels like forever, but it was back in mid-2018 when Showtime gave a TV series the green light. Production kicked off last year, but was halted when the COVID-19 pandemic started closing down Hollywood back in March.

Now, work has resumed, and Showtime has shared a photo of star Pablo Schreiber wearing a portion of Master Chief's iconic helmet. It's a nice tease, and indicates that the series is going to remain faithful to the video games (from a visual standpoint, at the very least).

In Halo, Schreiber will portray the iconic Master Chief Petty Officer John-117. Natascha McElhone is taking on the roles of Cortana and Catherine Halsey, while Shabana Azmi (Admiral Margaret Parangosky), Bokeem Woodbine (Soren-066), Kate Kennedy (Kai-125), Natasha Culzac (Riz-028), and Bentley Kalu (Vannak-134) all also star.

Steven Kane and Kyle Killen serve as co-showrunners on the series, and while plot details are being kept under wraps, it's believed the show will focus on the war between United Nations Space Command and the Covenant in the 26th Century.

Halo's premiere was originally scheduled for early next year, but chances are it's been delayed.
