Milla Jovovich Shares Brand New Photo From The MONSTER HUNTER Set Featuring Captain Artemis

It looks like Paul W.S. Anderson's upcoming movie based on the Monster Hunter video game series won't be the most faithful adaptation in history, as Milla Jovovich gives us our first look at her character.

Paul W.S. Anderson's take on the Monster Hunter video game series has been in development since 2012, but principal photography on the film has just began in Cape Town, South Africa. Earlier in the week, actor Diego Boneta (Eden, Terminator 6) gave us our first look at his original Monster Hunter character, Sergeant Marshall, sharing a detailed set photo on his Instagram page.

Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil, The Fifth Element) has now decided to give fans a quick look at Monster Hunter's protagonist, Captain Natalie Artemis. “Just a little peek for all the Monster Hunter fans out there who were worried the other day,” she wrote on Instagram. “Here is Captain Artemis wearing a ‘slinger’ on her arm." In the games, the slinger is a tool that can used to grapple hook around places.

It wasn't the only photo Jovovich shared yesterday, and the other gives us a better look at the Alpha Team featuring Jovovich, Meagan Good (Calinfornication, Don Jon), and "T.I." Harris (Entourage, Ant-Man and The Wasp).

Monster Hunter will reportedly focus on two protagonists who come from different worlds and must cooperate in fighting monsters in order to survive. Take a look:

Even if it feels like made-for-tv like Resident Evil, I don't mind Anderson taking on this franchise. Adaptations like this aren't supposed to be good, only entertaining. Now if he were to take on a movie like Uncharted, that's when I start screaming in agony

Don’t know this franchise at all but Anderson track record is definitely hit and miss. He does ok with low budget nice settings. Rez evil 1 and 2 and event horizon are still good movies in my books. Not much since then though.

I thought the days of shotty adaptations only loosely based on source material were behind us, then 2018 came along.

"It'll all make sense when you see the movie."

It already makes sense. And we think it's [frick]ing stupid.

I've never played any Monster Hunter game, but aren't they supposed to be medieval fantasy-themed games, with warriors in huge suits of armor and magic weapons and stuff? why are there military guys in the movie? WHY? what's wrong with making a straight-up fantasy movie set in a fantastical world? regular military guys with guns IS NOT THE WAY TO "GROUND" YOUR MOVIE.

ugh, this f*ckface Paul WS Anderson already has two Capcom franchises under his belt. lets hope he doesn't get his hands on the Megaman movie.

@Spidey91 - Have you played Final Fantasy 9? It's the same type of universe. Advanced medieval, basically Victorian steampunk? Medieval, but with machines, contraptions, a bit of tech, that sort of thing? And Monster Hunter has no story whatsoever, it fits on a postal stamp, just loads of lore, so I imagine they're being very original and going the Predator way, a bunch of soldiers who go looking for someone in the jungle and end-up in the Savage Land, basically. Definitely not gonna be medieval punk.

@Asturgis - but that sound even more interesting! why dumb it down with normal human soldiers caught in the middle? I wanna learn about a world like that through the people who live in it, not from normal human outsiders.
unless, unless the twist is that their weapons don't do sh*t against the monsters and they have to be trained in melee combat and weapons. that miiiiiight work, might.

@Spidey91 - Oh trust me, I feel you. That hard-on Hollywood has pitting soldiers against monsters is getting real old real fast.

Just got into this series. I have Generations for my Switch and plan on picking up World for the PS4 this week.

Very little hopes for this movie. Generic soldier stuff over fantasy..really! There better be Felynes in this at least!
