SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Leaves The Green Hill Zone For The Real World In Electrifying New Stills

Ahead of next week's release of Jeff Fowler's live-action/CGI hybrid adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog, Paramount Pictures has released over twenty hi-res stills from the upcoming Jim Carrey-starrer.

While it'll likely face stiff competition from the second week of Warner Bros.' Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) next weekend, Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog is still gearing up to have a pretty strong launch as early tracking places its opening somewhere between $41 million to $47 million over the course of the four-day Valentine's Day weekend.

With production costs running about $95 million ($90 million initial + an estimated $5 million for Sonic's redesign), that's a stellar start and should put it well on track to be one of the year's first big family friendly hits at the box office.

The cast is headlined by Primetime Emmy-winner Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as the voice and the facial motion capture of Sonic with a supporting cast composed of 2x Golden Globe-winner Jim Carrey (Kidding), James Marsden (X-Men), Tika Sumpter (Mixed-ish), Lee Majdoub (The 100), Adam Pally (Happy Endings), Neal McDonough (Legends of Tomorrow) and Frank C. Turner (Smallville).

i cant wait to see how he ends up bald with a huge ginger moustache. i dont get why he just didnt look like that from the start of the movie. why tamper with the charachter, if your not confident then don't make it , it's a movie no one watches for realisim . hopefully thats not the end of the movie or end credits scene.

@Gotham82 - In an interview Carrey seems very excited to play Robotnik in a possible sequel, going full time bald and fat.

@Gotham82 - I have a feeling that’s how he looks at the beginning of the movie. He’s chasing Sonic or something and Sonic gets the best of him and blows him up or something before going to earth. Robotnik then follows him to earth and disguised himself with a wig and trims down his mustache

I have zero invested interest in Sonic... never played the games, never watched or read anything with the character... but for some reason I’m rooting for this film.

I’m not going to go out and see it, but still.
