On the heels of last week's Zombieland: Double Tap trailer, game publisher Game Mill revealed a new video game inspired by Sony Pictures' original zombie comedy and its upcoming sequel.

Developed by High Voltage Software, Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip is a top-down, twin-stick shooter with local co-op multiplayer for up to four players. Described as "ridiculously fun," the game will feature a story-based campaign mode, wave-based horde mode, and ongoing daily and weekly challenges - all inspired by the story, characters, humor and horror of the film franchise. While exact details about the story of the game were not revealed, it was confirmed that it is set after the events of the first movie and will therefore likely tie into the upcoming sequel.

Players will be able to take on the role of one of the four post-apocalyptic survivors - Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock - with additional characters from the upcoming sequel available as unlocks. In addition to Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin returning, the recent trailer for Double Tap showed off some new survivors joining the zombie hijinks in Rosario Dawson, Thomas Middleditch, and Luke Wilson.

While a trailer for the game was not released alongside the announcement, there was a brief overview:

Use your special abilities, an arsenal of weapons and the essential Zombieland rules for survival to stay alive against huge numbers of uniquely grotesque and dangerous undead monstrosities in Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip’s story-based campaign mode, wave-based horde mode, and ongoing daily and weekly challenges.

Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip will be released on October 15, 2019 - three days before the film hits theaters on October 18 - for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

@DeadWade213 - ikr? I think it ended in 2009, when the game that would've been a dark knight adaptation got turned into arkham asylum, then people started to realize they can make more by just making good games.

Use the essential Zombieland rules for survival

Then shouldn't the game be more QWOP and less Smash TV?
