WarnerMedia CFO Warns There Could Be Further Delays With Titles Like WONDER WOMAN 1984 And DUNE

While Tenet finally has a release date, WarnerMedia CFO has indicated that there could be further delays to some of Warner Bros.' upcoming blockbusters as a result of COVID-19. Read on for details...

It's been a tough week for those working at WarnerMedia as mass layoffs have been made across the entire company and its subsidiaries (including DC Comics). The company's CFO, John Stephens, addressed investors on a recent call (via The Hollywood Reporter) and touched upon a number of topics, including Warner Bros.' film slate.

While there may now be plans in place for Tenet to be released internationally at the end of this month and then select cities in the U.S. in early September, the future beyond that is unclear, with big question marks surrounding upcoming titles like Wonder Woman 1984 and Dune

"I am not certain where those [films] are going to go," Stephens explained, adding that "further delays in some of the titles" could happen as a the studio tries to figure out what comes next.

Just like Disney were once keeping an eye on Tenet to decide how to handle Mulan's release, it now seems likely that Warner Bros. are watching that movie closely to see how it performs when it arrives on Disney+ for $29.99 next month. After all, WarnerMedia could do something similar with both Wonder Woman 1984 and Dune on HBO Max should theaters remain closed.

We'll have to wait and see, but there's clearly still a lot of uncertainty at WarnerMedia right now.

Hi everybody, this is my 1st. Post.

Movies that will probably be delayed:
-Wonder Woman 1984
-Black Widow
-James Bond - No time to die
-Dune

These have a too big budget to make it back without theatrical relese.

@MarvelZombie616 - seriously how many films even came out this year, is it seriously possible that Birds Of Prey or Bloodshot will be the best superhero film of the year

@dracula - sonic had enough of a theatrical run that it can be considered too.

@dracula - I think New Mutants has a good shot at becoming the best Superhero movie of the year if WW 1984 will be delayed. ;-)

I also think Bad Boys for Life will stay the most successful movie of the year both domestic & worldwide.

@dracula - well hes from another world, has super powers, and uses those powers to save people from a villain. Id say he counts.

Dune delay would suck, but it's understandable. Trailer drops sometime this month!

As expected. At least I get to enjoy Tenet at the end of the month. Sorry to my American brothers and sisters, but you elect the leaders you deserve.

@CheeseMaker - Will do dude but I'm gonna say, stay off the internet for a bit once Tenet is out. People are without a doubt gonna kill the joy for others. Hopefully it comes out soon wherever you're at mate.

Damn, WB really wants to lose money. What an insult to both Wonder Woman and Dune. Do the same thing you are doing with Tenet release. The rest of the world doesn't have to suffer because people in america decided to burn the country. Which will result in more cases of the virus spreading.

@LameLuka - I get your frustration but Tenet is bound to lose money. It's both a tester and probably Nolan's insistence since he really wants to try and help out the cinemas. They simply can't afford to try that with all the other blockbusters. They're gonna have to wait. The US really [frick]ed it all up for everyone.

@RandyOrtonLF - streaming wont guarantee them money. HBO MAX is not Disney+
I would rather they pushed them for next year.
Yeah the US screwed this whole thing up
