Wonder Woman 1984 is heading our way this August (it was originally supposed to be released in June before the COVID-19 pandemic changed that), and we now have some new details and images from the latest issue of Empire Magazine.
"The first movie was a coming of age, it was Diana becoming Wonder Woman," star Gal Gadot tells the publication. "She was very naive and she didn’t understand the complexities of life. A fish out of water. In this movie, that’s not the case whatsoever. Diana has evolved. She’s much more mature and very wise. However, she’s very lonely. She lost all of her team members and she’s guarded. And then something crazy happens."
The "crazy" moment the actress is referring to is the shocking resurrection of Steve Trevor, and it sounds like Gadot was glad to have him back given the key role he played in Wonder Woman.
"Chris was an integral part of the movie, and of its success," she continues. "And because he and I and Patty really enjoyed working together, we all wanted to have him back. And Patty and [co-writer] Geoff Johns found the best way that serves the narrative to bring Steve back."
The magazine has also released some stills from the sequel showing a tender moment between Diana and Steve along with another shot of the DC Comics superhero in her Golden Eagle armour.
