While recent claims that some of the Spider-Man movies could be coming to Disney+ proved to be incorrect, Disney's acquisition of Fox means that studio's Marvel titles are now available on the platform. More are likely to follow, but right now, X-Men, X2, Fantastic Four, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fantastic Four, and X-Men: Apocalypse are all available in the U.S.
In order to make it clear to people that those movies have nothing to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they now fall under the "Marvel Legacy" umbrella on the streaming service.
As you might expect, those in the MCU are under the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" heading.
At some point in the not too distant future, Marvel Studios is planning to reboot the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, so it's important to distinguish these franchise for casual viewers. While no one can blame Disney for taking advantage of these "Legacy" titles, it's not like Fantastic Four and X-Men: Apocalypse are amazing movies, so they need to be singled out on the streamer in some way.
There's no word on when those reboots will come our way, but even if the groundwork is laid during Phase 4, it's going to be a number of years before these characters appear in the MCU.
Have you spotted this change on Disney+ yet?
