Bryan Singer Comments On That 'Wolverine' Tease From The New X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Trailer
That was Hugh Jackman as Wolverine at the end of yesterday's final X-Men: Apocalypse trailer... right? Well, director Bryan Singer suggests that all is not quite what it seems in a new interview...
The final trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse confirmed a rumour we've been hearing about for a while now: Wolverine will indeed appear in the movie. At least, that obviously what the brief shot of a clawed hand suggested - but is there any chance this won't be the Logan we know? That it may not even be Hugh Jackman in the role?
Empire quizzed director Bryan Singer about certain aspects of the trailer, and here's what he had to say about the Wolvie tease.
"Make of that what you want. I will say, it’s not simple. There’s something more pivotal that occurs with that. It hints to a sequence that again fits within the canon of all six movies, and the birth of a new direction. It’s not insignificant, nor is it simply just a throw-in. It’s not the only shot you’re gonna see, let’s put it that way."
Many have speculated that we'll see a replay/reboot of the Weapon X scene from X-Men Origins: Wolverine which saw the iconic mutant undergo the procedure that grafted the adamantium to his skeleton. That's a pretty safe assumption - but do Singer's "new direction" comments imply that this will actually be the introduction of a new Wolverine, perhaps?
All will be revealed when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 18.
