With theaters still closed, studios are being forced to get creative when it comes to how they get their films to consumers. We're in the midst of a pandemic, and that's cut short the run a lot of recent releases have had at the global box office. Following last night's news that Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to Digital sooner than anticipated, Sony has now confirmed plans to release Bad Boys For Life.
The studio has confirmed that the badass action flick will arrive in March 31st, as the ageless Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return for one final adventure together.
Of course, it's not that "final" considering the fact Sony has already confirmed that the huge financial success of this third chapter means that a fourth is already in development. Bad Boys For Life was released in theaters on January 17th, so the window between a theatrical and home release has been cut right down to 74 days.
This is a sensible business decision on Sony's part as it gives people something to watch at home at a time when there's nothing being released in theaters. The positive response to Bad Boys For Life should ensure it's a popular option next weekend, but things may start drying up in the coming weeks.
April is looking quiet aside from Trolls World Tour, and the hope is that Disney will change its mind with Mulan or Black Widow as we move to a Digital world during these trying times.
