The James Bond film franchise is the longest running in cinematic history, spawning 22 installments and even having as much as six different actors play the role of James Bond.

Now comes word from AICN, MGM has cancelled Bond 23 due to there financial problems. Frankly, it seemed pretty likely considering we learned that production on the film was delayed indefinitely back in April. Heck, it even lost its director Sam Mendes!

Still, although it is almost certain that the James Bond franchise is not dead, it makes you wonder some things. Is Daniel Craig ever going to play the role again? How long will it be for a new studio to pick up the rights? When will Bond 23 be released now?

James Bond had been played by Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

There seemed to be so much potential for Bond 23, in fact, it seemed like it would have been a great Bond film.
