RAMBO Spin-Off Is Now A Sequel That Will See Sylvester Stallone "Pass The Torch" To A New Actor

Sylvester Stallone has offered a long-overdue update on the Rambo spin-off, confirming it's now gone from prequel to sequel with him set to "pass the torch" to a new actor. Find more details right here...

Sylvester Stallone has lent his talents to many big franchises over the years, and the actor's fans are understandably eager to see him revisit some of the most famous. Sly has already made it clear that a Rocky return is off the table for him, so what about another of his iconic roles, Rambo?

Rambo: Last Blood was released in 2019, and served as a solid enough conclusion to the series. While Stallone has previously said he would like to reprise the role in another sequel, we've heard that the plan may be a prequel series on a streaming platform. It was a compelling-sounding concept, and one that could see the character revisited in an interesting way.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter (via ActioNewz.com), Stallone confirmed the project has now pivoted from a prequel back to a sequel that will see him pass the torch, presumably to a new lead for the franchise.

"I think it’s going to happen. I wanted to do it like a Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam, where you drop young Rambo in there and he’s this outgoing guy, football captain, and then you see why he becomes Rambo," he explains. "But what they want to do is a modern-day story where I pass the torch. That’s getting close."

In the same interview, Sly revealed that the most he ever turned down for a movie was a whopping $34 million after being offered the chance to star in Rambo IV in the 1980s. With the exchange rate, that would be roughly $85 million these days, and the actor now admits he may have made a mistake. "Oh boy, what an idiot. Now I think about that and...wow."

We're definitely intrigued to see where the Rambo franchise goes next, and what this passing of the torch will look like. Needless to say, any actor who takes over from Stallone will have a lot of pressure riding on their shoulders, and we're excited to see who is willing to tackle that.

Stallone said neither of these:

He said that he isn’t getting the rights back to the character and stated that if the producers like his next Rocky script, the film will be made.

Furthermore he stated the Rambo prequel series may evolve into something modern-day.

Don’t make things up for clicks, Josh 🙄

@Origame - The first movie is about PTSD, what torch is he planning on passing to the new guy?? Make a horror movie where Rambo traps a burglar in his house and tortures them until they break, Vietnam style.

@Twenty23Three -
First Blood is a near perfect movie. The book is even better. The big difference between the book and the movie is that Col Trautman shoots him in the head at the end of the book because he knew that prison was going to be more of a hell for a guy like Rambo than death.
