The Next Bond Film Isn't Dead Yet

Despite the reports, the next James Bond film could still come out.

Three days ago, it was reported that Bond 23, the sequel to "Quantum of Solace," had been scrapped. The reason for this made perfect sense. MGM, the studio producing the film, has been in a financial hold for months now, which has affected both 007 and the Hobbit. It turns out the story does have some truthful elements, but the situation isn't nearly as bad as the initial reports .

THR's Risky Business blog reports while the production is on ice, it's not a recent development. Those that have been following the movie may remember a report that came out in January saying that the production has been put on hold until the struggling movie studio can find a buyer. The story appeared to have been undercut by the news that Sam Mendes had signed on as director, but it appears the statements made by producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli at the time still held firm ground: "We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release."

While this isn't awesome news, Bond 23 is not fully canceled.

Production halted in April, and nothing has really changed since.
