Antonio Banderas (Shrek, The Mask of Zorro) will star as a pirate in the upcoming sequel. Also SpongeBob SquarePants 2 is set be filmed in Savannah on September 30 and on Tybee Island on October 9.



The first SpongeBob SquarePants movie was released in 2004 and grossed more than $140 million worldwide. The first movie featured famous actors as Jeffrey Tambor (Hellboy & Hellboy II), Alec Baldwin (The Shadow), Scarlett Johansson (The Spirit, The Avengers) and David Hasselhoff (Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

SpongeBob SquarePants 2 is scheduled to be released on February 13, 2015.

I love this cartoon, its better than the crap fest on cartoon network, now those cartoons are brain melting. I remember seeing this in the 90's and its been around for a long time now. I hope when I have kids they are able to enjoy this as well.

@MexSuper Well its a fun show you gotta give it that, but why do all shows have to be hard wired to stimulate a persons brain? Its good for a person to enjoy some good old slap stick stupidity every now and then. I agree with what you said about Jackass though, I am pretty sure I lost some brain cells when that show came out.

First three and a half seasons were great I grew up on those. Then at season four they started to suck and it hasn't stopped from there

YES! loved the first movie. saw it in theaters. other than kids dads, i was the oldest guy in there haha. sponge bob is the shit!
