Marvel Animated Features - What Next?

Marvel Animated Features - What Next?

With DC rolling out new movies every couple of months, I been wondering what happened to Marvel?

They released a few good titles, but haven't outmatched DC. So what should they release after Planet Hulk? Well, that could be almost anything. I'm sure it won't sell as well as the DC titles. I have nothing against Marvel. They make really cool characters and story lines that reach the levels of epic. So I have a few choices for future animated projects.

First Secret Wars: you get a bunch of Marvel's best heroes and villains, put them on a planet to fight--nuff said.

Second the INFINITY GAUNTLET, need I say more.

Third 1985, good story and it would be neat to see animated.

Fourth, Old Man Logan, just finished and already full of great moments and real gore. It's time to step it up a notch.

Fifth Sinister Spider-Man, fun story and a funny character.

And last but not least: Marvel zombies.

So post comments and make your pick or add in your suggestions.
Until next time true believers!

Thor: Tales of Asgard is due out in 2011.
it was originally meant to come out this fall but then again.... so was Thor.
i'm guessing they pushed it back to help tie in to the Thor movie.

also, i would love to a World War Hulk movie, Civil War, Secret War (not Wars), and Wolverine: Origin the way it was intended.

i think they should start with Secret War (the one where nick fury goes underground, not Secret War"S"). then avengers disassembled. then civil war. that could be a pretty cool line up of movies that would all be connected.

but i wouldn't complain if we got any of the ones you listed Blackairs :) infinity gauntlet is CLASSIC!! so is secret wars though.

and i don't know, i think Hulk Versus was pretty damn good! i liked that better than any of the DC animated movies so far! ultimate avengers and ultimate avengers 2 had terrible animation, so i didn't like those. avengers next was pretty cool, except it didn't follow anything.

Marvel Zombies!!!
that'd be sweet lol, they're animated movies should be better under the supervision of animation experts disney. if not in story at least in the qaulity of the animations.

never really got into the animated movies from either dc or marvel, so i ask this... if i had to watch on3 from either company what movie should i pick up first?

@Lee: Hell yes to a DC Crisis trilogy! I'd also like to see an Identity Crisis animated movie. That would be freakin' sweet!

@Joob: Yes! Civil War would be AWESOME!

For Marvel movies I'd like to see:
Punisher: Origins (Frank Castle+Vietnam+Early Punisher days in all it's gory glory? Can I get a hell yeah?)
House of M
Civil War
Secret Invasion
and I'd actually like to see what they could do with Marvel Noir. Those would make some sweet Animated stories I think.

Oh man Planet Hulk, that is the story the got me into every comic that is out post PH. Ever since then I have been reading all of marvels title that is out every Wednesday.

After planet Hulk they would have to do WWH just because it is a logical progression.

Or they could go with the Illuminati's story since they screw the Hulk up.

CIVIL WAR!!!!!...best story in a long ass time!
they could continue with the ultimate animated movies and make ultimates 3 and ultimatum that would be dope...
they could maybe make sum animated movies of characters not already in live action like x-factor or x-force...
or make animated movies of marvel flops like Fantastic 4, ghost rider, dare devil, etc

Start with Secret War and move through the entire Micheal Bendis project would be awesome. I'd also like to see the Thunderbolts get some play.

how about civil war,or messiah complex,or m day,or the 198,or the scrull invasion,or new x-men,or an updated sentinels story with the x-men,or generation-x,and how about district-x there are alot of things they can really do and i would love to see them use the x-men a little more and maybe spider-man and hulk.

Infinity Gauntlet would be without a doubt, top of the list. Its the classic to end all classics.

Then I would go with:
1.Days of Future Past. (X-Men)
2.The Korvak Saga (Avengers)
3.Annihilation

4. Deaths Head 2 (Minion) I know this is not a well known run, but in my opinion the 4 issue original series from Marvel UK was an incredible story.

The coming event is gonna be epic! Thor vs the Sentry!!

They really have to change up the dialogues though, and get some voice cast like DC!

I concur @ all. As much as I loved Infinity Gauntlet with Ron Lim's art, Secret Wars was epic. Civil War would be my fourth choice after The Messiah Complex story.

George Perez was the artist for Infinity Guantlet.

Sorry but Secret Wars may be regarded as a classic because it was the first real Marvel wide crossover, but it was a load of shite from a writing and character stand point. Seriously, it was bad! Go back and read it again if you don't believe me. Almost every major hero and villain in the Marvel universe, and about 4 of them get any dialog! They focused on Spidey, Reed Richards and the [frick]ing Molecule man! The story was also balls.

Marvel have only made one good an9mated movie so far IMO, Hulk Vs..and Planet Hulk is looking good so far. Hopefully the trend continues. I'd love to see an Inhumans movie, or Excalibur, ...but most of all a Civil War or Old Man Logan, imagine how cool either one of those would be?

Marvel Animation need to step up their designs of the animated films. also i wish they never done that crappy Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow.

The Secret Wars would be a great one. Another one is that alternate universe one that had Hyperion in it.
Another good DC one would be Crisis on Infinite Earth.

What about when Jean Grey was on trial and the Xmen fought along side the StarJammers against the Zazar Empire.

@ ror

yeah secret wars was bad, but for the time it was awesome. it would obviously be updated. looking at it like, infinity gauntlet was bad too. they gather all these heroes to fight thanos, but almost NONE of them say more than 2 lines. its mostly adam warlock, silver surfer, doc srange and doom arguing over who should be the leader. everyone else is just there to distract thanos, lol. they're fodder basically.

but i DID think secret wars was kinda lame. they took things to the extreme...hulk lifting an 80 gabillion ton mountain? lame.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/29/2009, 8:23 AM
@ schuellerdg

that would be the dark phoenix saga, lol. and its the Shi'ar empire.

@ multi

i kind of like the sentry :) he's superman with flaws! i know he was basically created as a joke, but he's fairly badass when he wants to be. he's just never written correctly. but if he let loose, Thor wouldn't stand a chance against him. sentry fought hulk to a stalemate. and it was the strongest/smartest hulk we've ever seen. thor has NEVER been able to do that! but again, sentry actually let loose against hulk, which is really the only time he's done that. it just depends on WHICH sentry shows up.

StephenStrange - 11/29/2009, 8:33 AM
oh HELL yeah.. A Nova anime? Moon Knight? Infinity Gauntlet? freaking good choices, Multi! That would be so great

Multi---- I forgot Lim did the last 3 issues because his work is so damn similar to Perez's you don't notice the change.
CDB------ The Sentry is crazy as all hell. Hes never even sure of what he is doing, which pretty much voids most of his power.( no pun intended )
LEEE----- I hated secret wars.

Nova needs a chance to shine so bad, its ridiculous. He is one of Marvels most overlooked yet important, rellevant, powerfull and interesting characters. Also an adaptation of the original Adam Warlock could be unbelievable.

@ hawksblue

oh i see what you did there, lol :)

@ multi

yeah, he's like he's meant to be written, and if he didn't have his flaws then he would be the easy answer for every problem. so i guess i agree with you there. i still don't know though, thor is definately one of my favorite marvel characters, but there's gotta be someone that can give him a fight. and i think sentry is the only one that can do that.

and if sentry lost it and went all Void on him, then who knows what would happen. void broke every bone in hulk's body! hulk couldn't even touch him!

onslaught WAS bad ass...well the buildup anyway. the story went completely to shit about half way in though. and that ending?? ugh
